Almost half of new electricity is now clean and green - environment - 07 April 2014 - New Scientist

That's a lot of clean power. Almost half of new electricity generation is now renewable, and the costs of wind and solar power are falling sharply. It "should give governments confidence to forge a robust climate agreement" next year, says Achim Steiner, director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Still have a long way to go, though.

Is it your contention that a google planted story is factual?

How about linking to the study and not press release planted on the internet which the author then pays to be found in your google search.

Erm, I found it on New Scientists, who wrote the article, and which I frequent without the assistance of Google. Yes, dear, there is life on the internet without Google. You didn't know this? Huh.

There no way half our energy is green. That is the most ridiculous thing I've read today.

I agree, if that is what it actually said, that would be ridiculous. Perhaps you should re-read it before you post (just to make sure you read it right).

No, if they had intended on lying, I am certain they would have asked you to write the article.

Is this opposed to old, or the plants that existed prior too?

If so, then of course it is, trying to get new oil, coal or nuke plants approved is damn near impossible. So???????

If that were true, we would not be in a current oil boom. Next.

Production of oil equals creation of power plants? Please explain

I love links with catchy titles

especially if they follow up with an awsome first paragraph.

story goes down hill for those that read it all though.

doesn't even mention the Americas

I can't wait until we start drilling for oil in a BIG way. What a boost to our economy, the job market, and America's pride. The added bonus will be our severing ties with foreign oil interests. Especially oil from the Arab countries. We will pay off our debt and become a lending nation rather than a borrowing nation again.

Yep ahhhhhh ( takes toke of ciggy in classic Denis Leary fashion :D )

You mean like solar power that has grown from .002 to a whopping .2% of our electricity??:eusa_dance::eusa_dance::fu:

From January of 2014 >>> Solar Provides 0.2% of Electric Supply--Up From 0.02% Before Obama | CNS News

Wind is a joke too.......when compared to fossil fuels!!! Don't take my word for it though......take a gander to see the sobering truth for the AGW k00ks. All renewables will still only be 15% of electricity generation by 2035.....20 years from NOW >>>

So remember.......when you see the far left assholes in this forum post up something new on renewables, don't get too giddy. Rates of growth are always compared to itself and never compared to non-renewable sources of electricity. In any ugly girl contest, there is always a winner. But stick 'em in the contest next to the non-ugly girls and.........:coffee:

Oh......almost forgot........the market trend on renewables is decidedly heading south since 2007!!!

All over the world, in recent years, people have woken up and smelled the maple nut crunch!!

That tends to happen with market saturation. Stay tuned.
