American dream dying under Obama? - Tea Party

Scorecard of 10 indicators shows Americans worse off since 2009

(Dr. Jerome Corsi) – Are you better off today economically than you were when President Obama took office in January 2009?

That question remains the litmus test for electoral politics as the U.S. prepares to move into the 2014 mid-term election cycle.

You mean what Republicans turned over to Obama? It was a "dream" all right. A "nightmare".

of course. under obama the lie about the "billionaires" who make 200K per year became a mantra between the useful idiots.

200K per year is not even an UPPER middle class anymore - it is simple middle classs

According to the Congressional Budget Office, between 1979 and 2007 incomes of the top 1% of Americans grew by an average of 275% ..... Since 1979 the average pre-tax income for the bottom 90% of households has decreased by $900, while that of the top 1% increased by over $700,000, as federal taxation became less progressive.

From 1992-2007 the top 400 income earners in the U.S. saw their income increase 392% and their average tax rate reduced by 37%. In 2009, the average income of the top 1% was $960,000 with a minimum income of $343,927.

Based on the data from the Congressional Budget Office, the top 1% are doing just fine and living the American Dream - but for the rest of us it died with the election of Ronald Reagan and the introduction by the GOP of a regressive tax system.

In a word, BS.

"...... - the Democratic win in 2008 is little more than a call for the Republicans to regroup and prepare for a full frontal assault in 2012.

If this wasn't clear before the vote on the Stimulus package, it should be clear now.

Already Republican operatives are drafting commercials for the midterm elections. They'll play like this: "Since Barack Obama took office, XX Americans have lost their jobs, XX Americans have lost their homes, and XX Americans have filed for bankruptcy. In light of the failed programs of the Obama administration, it's time to re-elect Republicans on a platform of tax reform, smaller government, and less handouts to the poor and underprivileged."

These commercials will work, because we all know that however successful the stimulus package is, there will be months, or years of economic pain before we start to see the positive effects of these investments.

Exactly. The previous presidents budget was still in effect. Obama was sworn in January but by the last day of Bush's last budget, at the end of the year, unemployment was up to 10%. The Republican damage had been done. And they work to block any recovery. They hate this country and want it brought down from having the nerve to elect a black president.

That was the Republican Plan. Only the wealthiest Americans deserve government help. The poor should die and quickly.

No, Obama and the democrats and holding the nation up from the GOP/teabaggers trying to destroy it.

So, the fact that this recovery is one of the most anemic that we have ever seen should be ignored?

Are you for real?

It is not Obama. He is certainly not helping matters, but the core of the problem is not one man.
It is 535 men and women in the two houses. Nearly every single one is corrupt, inept and weighs their decisions to benefit the few, not the many.
And Americans are so trained by their party affiliations that we continue to vote in the same people.
Nay, the American dream is suffering because of us.

The American Dream started its slow death back around 1970 or so.

When Nixxon took the western world off the gold standard that process only accelerated.

By the time Obama took over the only people who still believed int he American dream were the completely and utterly clueless.

You know.. like about half the people posting here....

This Obama fella is one powerful dude. Seems all of America is now dependent on one man, Americans can no longer do things, they now look to one man for help. Weird huh, what happened to the individual and the work of Americans coming together to support all of America? Now they all cry and look to one man to pin the blame on for their own behaviors. Instead of doing they whine. Land of Whiner our new American title.

It's because Obama, like no other POTUS before him, feels like he is the modern day Robin Hood. The old adage, everyone want's a free lunch comes to mind. His policies and agenda lean heavily towards pushing Americans into the hands of government dependence.

The days of digging a ditch to the best of your ability, taking the wages commensurate of such after a hard days work, and buying some cold tall boys are gone.

As long as Old Glory flies the American dream is alive.

This country is bigger than it's politics. When push comes to shove we'll all be aware of that.

America survived the misguided, innocent, half-decent country bumpkin, Jimmy Carter, who at least, had the interest of his country as one of his guiding principles.

Of course, it will be not as easy to survive Obama, an evil genius who has none of that.
