America's greatness is its working classes not "wealth" creators

The American left is no longer liberal but rather Reactionary, parasitic statists. rich leftwing elitists only care for the working class in terms of the votes

As long as they care. The GOP leadership obviously doesn't.

Talking point?
The Demise of the American Middle Class In Numbers.

Over the past 60 years the American dream has gradually disappeared. The process was slow, so most people didn’t notice. They just worked a few more hours, borrowed a little more and cut back on non-essentials. But looking at the numbers and comparing them over long time periods, it is obvious that things have changed drastically. Here are the details:

1. WORKERS PRODUCE MORE BUT THE GAINS GO TO BUSINESS.

Over the past 63 years worker productivity has grown by 2.0% per year.

But after 1980, workers received a smaller share every year. Labor’s share of income (1992 = 100%):

1950 = 101%
1960 = 105%
1970 = 105%
1980 = 105% – Reagan
1990 = 100%
2000 = 96%
2007 = 92%

A 13% drop since 1980

2. THE TOP 10% GET A LARGER SHARE.

Share of National Income going to Top 10%:

1950 = 35%
1960 = 34%
1970 = 34%
1980 = 34% – Reagan
1990 = 40%
2000 = 47%
2007 = 50%

An increase of 16% since Reagan.

3. WORKERS COMPENSATED FOR THE LOSS OF INCOME BY SPENDING THEIR SAVINGS.

The savings Rose up to Reagan and fell during and after.

1950 = 6.0%
1960 = 7.0%
1970 = 8.5%
1980 = 10.0% – Reagan
1982 = 11.2% – Peak
1990 = 7.0%
2000 = 2.0%
2006 = -1.1% (Negative = withdrawing from savings)

A 12.3% drop after Reagan.

4. WORKERS ALSO BORROWED TO MAKE UP FOR THE LOSS.

Household Debt as percentage of GDP:

1965 = 46%
1970 = 45%
1980 = 50% – Reagan
1990 = 61%
2000 = 69%
2007 = 95%

A 45% increase after 1980.

5. SO THE GAP BETWEEN THE RICHEST AND THE POOREST HAS GROWN.

Gap Between the Share of Capital Income earned by the top 1%
and the bottom 80%:

1980 = 10%
2003 = 56%

A 5.6 times increase.

6. AND THE AMERICAN DREAM IS GONE.

The Probably of Moving Up from the Bottom 40% to the Top 40%:

1945 = 12%
1958 = 6%
1990 = 3%
2000 = 2%

A 10% Decrease.

Labor Day.jpg
Abraham Lincoln correctly said that labor is antecedent to capital.

2/3ds of our economy is propelled by our consumer.

The day will come again when our legislators remember and reward that, or they will be voted out of office.

Well Jakey Fakey, one thing America was NOT built on was class warfare. Way to drum up that old blue collar vs white collar, men against women, black against white liberal thematic.

No wonder I keep running into libs who think in "either" / "or" in my threads instead of with any kind of sophistication.

The union propaganda in this thread is so thick, no wonder level- headed people are staying away.

What world do you live in, ec. Class warfare has always been a major part of our history. You better take some history classes while finishing your doctorate in economics. You accuse others of what you do when you say they are thinking in either or.

America was built on ANYONE with a good work ethic and willingness to work long, hard hours who didn't expect things to be handed to them on a silver platter.....REGARDLESS OF WHAT COLOR COLLAR THEY WORE.

You idiots and your politics of devisiveness make me want to puke.

No, only you union thugs and socialists have fostered class warfare. Most Americans reject that shit.

So thanks for coming clean that you're just a union thug plant on USMB that couldn't be further from a Republican.

I'm sure lying out your teeth is in the socialist handbook too.

Working class versus wealth creators.....how dumbass can someone be.

Silver platter, like the Bushes.

You talk to the laboring men and women and offer them your opinion.

I was the family CEO of our business for more than 30 years, econchick. The business does well today and easily survived the Great Recession because we knew what we were doing. Our employees were well paid for the location, and they gave us good service in return.

EC, you see only one part of the issue and that will cost you during your career.

Fuck you, moron. I come from a blue collar family. I put myself through school with plenty of blue collar jobs so spare me your union thuggery bullshit.

You are nothing special that way. I worked my way through college after military.

Will you address the OP or merely continue with worthless insults?

Our strength has always been our workers.

Well this post makes you look even MORE pathetic. Is there some reason you need to demean your position? What were you the CEO of??? Did you not create wealth, idiot? Did you not create the jobs for the working class employees?

You cannot be trusted. Only a person with their mouths on someone's dick talks like this.

Everything that ever comes out of your mouth makes no sense. You're disgusting.

I've already commented, moron. What part of "All types have made our country great" did you not grasp?

You're politics of division disgust me. I feel like I need a shower just being on this thread of yours.

Good managerial efficiency means taking care of your workers so that they will adopt company strategies and goals. I created wealth because I had customers to buy my products. No customers, business fails. Ask your professors about that.

Your professors will also tell you that when all you can do is ad hom is notice that you have failed the discussion.

EconChick does not get that workers can destroy a business if they are not treated professionally and compensated appropriately. It works that way in the military. The junior officers and senior NCOs ended a signals Brigade commander and one of his company commanders because they treated their subordinates like filth.
