As usual you have no idea what you are talking about. The One China policy is about which country will be the soul representative of the Chinese people, but that does not exclude the US having relations with the Taiwan. No one publicly accepted calls from the Taiwanese government but the US has had extensive economic dealings with the Taiwanese government, including significant arms sales that were strongly objected to by mainland China for many years. If we weren't supporting the independence of Taiwan, we wouldn't have sold them weapons over the objections of Beijing. What President Trump has done is bring some rationality to this crazy policy.Give your fevered imagination a rest. President Trump never said he was rejecting the one China policy, but that doesn't mean he will ignore Taiwan as other presidents have. There is a third way.Would it be fair to nickname the president the cave man?
"President Trump told Chinese President Xi Jinping Thursday night that he will honor the “One China” policy that recognizes Beijing as the only legitimate Chinese government.
The two leaders spoke by phone Thursday night, the White House said in a release, their first phone conversation since Trump’s inauguration.
“The two leaders discussed numerous topics and President Trump agreed, at the request of President Xi, to honor our ‘one China’ policy,” the release said. “Representatives of the United States and China will engage in discussions and negotiations on various issues of mutual interest.”
Trump accepted a call from Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen after his election, breaking with the long-standing protocol. He later told the Wall Street Journal that "Everything is under negotiation, including 'One China.'"
The White House described the Thursday call as "lengthy" and "extremely cordial," and said both men had extended invites to visit their respective countries.
The release came shortly after the publication of a New York Times reportthat described China as "stung" by Trump's call with Taiwan. Officials told the Times that Xi would not agree to speak with Trump until after his public acknowledgment of the policy, which in effect cuts off official governmental ties with Taiwan.
The call comes one day before Trump is set to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Washington, after which they will play golf at Trump's Palm Beach resort."
Trump promises Chinese president he'll honor 'One China' policy
Yes it does. Because the "One China" policy says that the US will not deal with the Taiwan government. No American President since Nixon has taken a phone call from the Taiwanese.
You seem to be the one confused about American policy with Taiwan. We have no diplomatic relationship at all period. We have a business relationship and that relationship is one dedicated to Taiwan's ability to prosper, including the sale of arms but anything else is never spoken about to the Chinese. Trump has brought nothing to this relationship and now it is even more obvious that he caved to the one China policy, leaving Taiwan in the lurch.
