Had the perp killed the guy without a weapon there would be NO question his defence was justified.

Self defense with or without a weapon is an "unalienable right" and is ALWAYS justified. A fist can be and has been used as a deadly weapon. We all have the right to carry a bigger "fist" than the other guy.

Someone here doesnlt know much about the right to self defense.

If you have the right to kill someone in self-defens,e the means with which you do so is irrelevant.
Fist, knife, gun -- the legitimacy of the act depends on the situation, not the weapon used.
