Another Trump disappointment: Sessions bringing back the War on Some Drug Users

Because let's face it, if you make all drugs legal, more people will use those drugs.
I'm not sure that's true. I believe I've read that alcohol consumption went down after Prohibition was repealed. That makes perfect sense to me. Making something illegal is often the best way to make it popular. We humans! In any case, as with alcohol, the lion's share of the negative impact on society of the prohibition of both alcohol and drugs derives from their illegality.

Marijuana use increases in Colorado, according to new federal survey – The Denver Post

I personally know two people who moved there for their pot laws. And, a count of pot users when pot is legal is bound to catch many who hid it before.

Drugs and addiction are medical issues, not criminal issues. Get the lawyers out of the way. Cut the cost by 90%. Start boot camps for addicts and legalize.
We have way too many liberals now. Legalizing dope will create millions more.
oh geez.....more stupidity from the weasel.....
Whoa, bongboy is in another drug thread. Who saw that coming?
why are you here?.....it sure as hell isnt to talk about the truth about pot is it....what you said was pure stupidity....but then since you have never smoked the stuff i guess stupidity is what i should expect....

I did speak the truth but your hollowed out brain couldn't receive it. I said it will create more liberals.

Same old played out shit...just as whack-jobs who partake in Zoophilia honestly believe it should be legal to fuck your Labrador, low-life's who use drugs believe drugs should be legalized.
Nobody legit thinks Zoophilia should be legal and nobody legit thinks drugs should be legal.
The desperate reaching and spinning for lame justification will never end...not until twisted-up Leftards have this country in the chaotic, anything goes free for all state their confused, retarded minds desire.

Man you really are ignorant. Go look at all the European countries who have beaten us to the punch.

It works.
Wow? Europe. Socialist losers. How about they defend themselves...see how much $$$ they have for free shit then.
You and brokeloser and Iceweasel give conservatives a bad name. It's like you train to say the most asinine, unsupported, cliched, ad-council derived, unreasoned, shallow, ill-considered, empty-headed, dim-witted, wild-eyed am radio screechfest-sourced, thoughtless, brainless, logic-free, irrational utter bullshit thing there is to say about drug legalization on command. Did you guys find an Instant Every-Negative-Conservative-Stereotype pill or something?

Idiotic potheads dare to talk about caring for the poor while ignoring the devastation drugs cause in the poorest neighborhoods. Self-indulgent fucking hypocrites.

Did you know that more Americans die from prescription drugs from the FDA than street drugs, especially pot?

....

Did you know I don't give a shit about your transparent attempt at diversion? People die falling in the shower too. Street drugs still destroy lives and communities, and self-indulgent potheads don't really care about anything but getting high.

Dude, I take drops of the CBC's in pot, it doesn't get you high for medical reasons... the Big pharma spends millions to discredit pot, so they can feed the kool-aide to people and make their own version..and make the millions

Yes, street drugs are horrible like meth, and heroin...I am not diverting I am telling you the fact that we have a horrible problem with prescriptions drugs as well...

Many addicted to prescription drugs think that it is not a problem because their doctor prescribed it..

From the Washington Post:

The Sessions memo marks the first significant criminal justice effort by the Trump administration to bring back the toughest practices of the drug war, which had fallen out of favor in recent years with a bipartisan movement to undo the damaging effects of mass incarceration.
Of all the very serious issues out there, THIS is what Sessions puts out there? The stupid, unwinnable, unjust War on Drugs.

BUILD THE FUCKING WALL!!!

When you elect politicians who are more concerned about lining their pockets and the pockets of their friends than they are about the American people this is the result.
I don't know how you could have expected different from this administration.

And private prisons donated millions to the Trump admin.
You can see the result by one of his first moves was removing Obama's policy that was phasing out private prison contracts.
And again here by renewing the aggressiveness of the war on drugs.
All about the money baby, all about the money.
Fuck the people, am I right GOP?

I don't like pot and the way it makes me feel, same with pain bills..

I have heard people say that pot doesn't make you addicted...they said the same thing with cocaine in the 1980's..All drugs are addictive..

Crush drug abuse and its support of terrorism.
Crush the ignorance of socialism on a national basis, and start discussing straddling options with really hot blondes.

Capitalism, not Socialism on a National basis! Laissez-fair, all the way, right wingers!

Most marijuana users use very much like Michael Brown. All he did was smoke some weed. Not mentioning roughing up the store clerk or fighting with a cop.

They forget. All they did was smoke a roach, then find out that they shot three people.

It still effects you even if you're not actually intoxicated at the time. Pot stays in your system for nearly a month after you stop smoking it. Trayvon Martin who attacked George Zimmerman had pot in his blood too. I've known plenty of people that quit pot, and you can see the gradual change in them as time went along.
George Zimmerman was also on drugs.in fact the drugs he took are known to be powerful hallucinogens as well as mood altering stimulants that promote aggressive behavior. Your so-called"liberal" media downplayed that fact and drove the narrative
that dehumanized Martin as a weed smoking thug while downplaying the behavior of a drug crazed maniac named George Zimmerman.

I don't believe that for a minute. When I was younger and smoked pot, I could care less who knew. That would be especially true if they were strangers only taking a survey.

According to their local CBS station, your assumptions are wrong. Here are the stats:

Here are the highlights in just three years since legalization:

  • Marijuana-related traffic deaths increased 48 percent.
  • Over 20 percent of all traffic deaths were marijuana related compared to only 10 percent six years ago.
  • Marijuana-related emergency department visits increased 49 percent.
  • Marijuana-related hospitalizations increased 32 percent.
  • Marijuana-related calls to the Rocky Mountain Poison Center increased 100 percent.
  • Diversion of Colorado marijuana to other states increased 37 percent by vehicle and 427 percent by parcels.
  • Colorado youth now rank number one in the nation for marijuana use and 74 percent higher than the national average.
  • Colorado college-age group now rank number one in the nation for marijuana use and 62 percent higher than the national average.
  • Colorado adults now rank number one in the nation for marijuana use and 104 percent higher than the national average.
http://denver.cbslocal.com/2016/08/31/studies-show-results-of-legal-pot-in-colorado/

We don't have such drastic changes because some pot smokers came out of the closet. What we have is (the obvious) more people using pot. So now picture these results nationwide. Now picture the results if we legalized all drugs nationwide. What kind of country would we have?

You also have to keep in mind the confirmation bias our whole country engages in when it comes to drugs.
Whenever someone who uses meth or heroin or whatever is involved in a crime, it's described in the papers as a "meth-fueled crime spree". But if the criminals weren't using meth, it's never reported, "the pair, who never use meth, went on a crime spree..." Our brains don't pay attention to the absence of drugs, but we remember when it's present and extrapolate from that that the drugs CAUSED the crime. Imagine if we did that for criminals who were raised in religious homes: fueled by their religious upbring, they went on a crime spree. Do that long enough and it would become the accepted wisdom that religion causes crime.

And, yes, there is an opioid problem in this country, but it isn't because opioids aren't illegal enough. It's because white people are committing suicide in record numbers and opioid abuse is a slow, relatively pleasant, suicide. It's pointless and counterproductive to try to remove their suicide method of choice. Better to address why they are killing themselves, and fix THAT problem.

People who die from opioids are not doing so intentionally. As their body adjusts to the poison, it takes more and more to get the same satisfaction they had when they first started using the drug. When it gets to the point there is no way to get that satisfaction, people inject or ingest these drugs beyond the bodies capability of being able to process the drug and the body shuts down.

As for the ones that do commit suicide, it's most likely because they realize the situation they are in. The dope heads I knew in the past talked about suicide for that reason alone. Everything else in their life was doing fine.

Drugs do not cause crime, but they are the reason doped up people become criminals. If they never touched the stuff in the first place, more than likely they would be leading productive lives.

no, you said something that only a person who has never been around actual smokers would say....but your hollowed out brain cant grasp how stupid it was.....but then judging by the other pot "facts" you have thrown out in the past i should not be surprised....
