Those who do not want to admit that punishment works bring up the matter of the baby boomer boom.

That was probably part of it. Other parts that increased the crime rate during the 1960's were the decline in the prison population, and the civil rights movement, which reduced the livelihood and severity of punishment for Negroes.

Social reform and welfare spending never reduced the crime rate. More punishment did.

I dislike guns. Nevertheless, as the number of guns in the United States rose the crime crime fate declined.
