Yé-yé


Back in the grim, dark days of the late 1950s, around the time teenagers were being invented, young French people discovered a new type of music. It was an import from the UK and America (the seductive land of Coca-Cola and Hollywood), and French youth embraced rock ’n’ roll with a vengeance. It didn’t matter that they didn’t know the lyrics, when they ran out of words, they substituted the English with ‘yeah, yeah, yeah’, and this habit came to define a generation.
 
(Amtrak California) Zephyr

"The California Zephyr Salute", also known as "Moon River", is when rafters on the Colorado River traditionally gather to display their bare backsides to the California Zephyr train. I had the pleasure of witnessing this once.
