Are Democrats really the human rights party? Seems to me they aren't.
Since 2003 we've seen them working against the Iraq War, which was essentially the fight for freedom of 25 million Iraqis. Democrats supported the Arab Spring, but the result of that so-called Democracy movement has been more and more countries establishing governments based on Sharia Law, which is the most strict theological government in existence. An autocracy based on the Quran. Democracy it turns out is mob-rule rather than a representative government. The majority crushes the rights of the minority. Is that freedom?
In the case of a Chinese dissident the Obama Administration had an opportunity to show it's worth and they promptly failed. Here is a man who heard that America was the promised land, a bastion of freedom. His mistake was believing that what Democrats say is the same as what they mean. He looked to America for freedom, and instead he got threats of beatings and possibly death. In wanting to remain in the good graces of an oppressive regime the Obama Administration promptly handed over the wayward freedom-fighter to his tormentors. This situation is still up in the air and is looking more and more like another diplomatic nightmare for the Obama State Department. After a long series of foreign policy screw-ups this administration was dealt a tough choice and true to form made a decision based on their alignment with an oppressive regime. Lesson to the wise; If you would just learn to oppose oppressive regimes rather than try to get along with them you wouldn't be put in this untenable position.
Looks like to me that the folks at the U S embassy did their jobs and took in this blind dissident, and when the Obama State Department arrived in the person of Hillary Clinton, he was handed over almost immediately.
Yes, Democrats want freedom but for some strange reason Washington doesn't seem to provide it. (Well, you can't fault them for trying)
Fortunately I still can. I don't know for how long however.
