Autonomous drones

"....THIS week the Navy will launch an entirely autonomous combat drone — without a pilot on a joystick anywhere — off the deck of an aircraft carrier, the George H. W. Bush. The drone will then try to land aboard the same ship, a feat only a relatively few human pilots in the world can accomplish.

This exercise is the beginning of a new chapter in military history: autonomous drone warfare. But it is also an ominous turn in a potentially dangerous military rivalry now building between the United States and China...."

And, where is China getting the know how and computer power to compete with us for control of the Pacific? Where will their own autonomous drones, which would be a game changer for us, come from? Technology transfers from American and other foreign corporations greedy to save a buck. Thirty years of the economic "partnership" between American global corporations and the Communist Chinese government is handing Beijing the tools they need to challenge not only us for the Pacific, but India for the Indian Ocean as well. It looks like Lenis was chillingly correct when he said, "The capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them."

During the administrations of Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush II, our policy of selling out America's future for corporate profits went on unabated and now comes the payoff for their Chinese "partners."

But, the administration of Barack Obama stands in the way. He has directed the most radical shift in our policy toward China since Richard Nixon visited Mao Tse Tung and made kissy-face. He has re-focused our entire foreign policy from the Middle East to the western Pacific, stationed trip-wire American forces in the Straits of Malacca and on the Indian Ocean coast of Australia. He has taken China to the WTO over unfair trade practices and forced a Chinese re-valution of their currency. He's also clearly identified the Chinese cyber-threat to our infrastructure and domestic computer networks, unabashedly calling them out. He's positioned America in support of the Philippines in their confrontation with China over a few rocks in the China Sea, even going so far as to send a naval show of support. And, that's just a short list.

There is yet much to be done, but the GOP House opposes his efforts to tax the profits corporations make in China and provide other incentives to break the selling out of America by corporations which see themselves as global citizens, rather than American companies.

Obama has done many things wrong, but in this case, he's right on target. China represents a clear and growing threat to America and his efforts to restrain them deserve support. Unfortunately, the GOP is so in bed with global corporations and so smitten with their self-imposed resistance to anything he does that further actions to prevent a Chinese take over of the western Pacific are probably DOA.

I am more worried about that land based lazer satilite killer they are rumorered to have. and your right about China"s drones only a few years ago they just had a couple now the are building thousands.
