Bernie Sanders does not understand economics

The problem with your level playing field claim is jealousy. A level playing field comes from taking opportunities that come your way, knowing that life isn't and can't be made fair by any level of redistribution, and realizing that not taking those opportunities isn't the same as those opportunities not existing.

I find it hilarious that a white male who gets every advantage in our society is the first one to scream "life isn't fair!!!!" when they've never encountered any real prejudice against them in their entire lives.

Born on third base and thought you hit triple.

That excuse, huh?

In other words, you want the government to do what the government doesn't have authority to do? Those powdered wig shitters 200 years ago put into the document you want to allow what wasn't delegated to the government you want doing it a way to add it to that document. That you don't like the method they provided to expand the government and want the government to just be able to do it isn't my problem. It's yours.

Actually, all we need to do is get the president to sign an executive order. Problem solved.

No, just another example of how your ****** President operates.

Unlike that poor person, I contribute to the pot. They don't. If they contribute, they should get it. When they don't, all you want is for them to have what they don't pay for and want those of us who do have more than you think we should to fund it. If someone gets food, I want them to pay for it not expect it to be handed to them. If someone has a place to live, I want them to pay for it same as I do. If someone's kid goes to college, I want that parent to pay for it. You won't none of those.

I just have this image of Daffy Duck screaming "Mine, mine, mine, mine, mine!!!" and trying to push Bugs Bunny down into the hole.

As I've said, I would like for WalMart and McDonalds to pay their employees enough so they don't have to go on food stamps. These are multi-billion dollar companies that pay their execs 8 figure salaries. Failing that, I'm all for taxes the ever loving shit out of those 8 figure salaries to pay for those social programs.

What you want is for Walmart, etc. to pay their employees what you think they should make. The problem is it's not your money.

I'm sure you'd love to tax them that much. It's the only way your burger flipping ass would ever have anything. God knows you don't have the skills to earn it.

It's hard work pushing a button and reading a prompt that asks "Do you want fried with that?". I work harder in one day than they work in one month.

Yet, you never talk about what it is you actually do. I'm sure catching those possums is hard work.

I didn't want to work at such places. That's why I gained marketable skills. Now, because I did, I'm expected to subsidize the incomes of those who have nothing more in their pitiful existence in skills than to work at a place like that.

Yes, your possum catching skills are second to none.

I EARN a living. How I do it is irrelevant. I don't jump from job to job like you because the other fast food restaurant will let you do burgers instead of fries.

Bush gave a tax cut to the rich after the recession started. 9/11 happened after the recession started.

So tell us, how was Bush responsible for the recession?

How was Bush responsible for the tech bubble which collapsed, and the increase in the Fed funds rate from 3% to 6.5%, which economists generally agree was responsible for the recession?

Technically, it wasn't officially "A recession" until September 30th, 2001. A "recession" is defined as two consecutive quarters of negative GDP Growth.

No one denies the economy hit some turbulence. Bush was the guy who crashed it into the mountain.

But if you think the Bush Crime Family is so wonderful, why aren't you getting behind Jeb to save us from mean old Trump?

Evidently he has no clue how collateral works, the man is obviously a few cards shy on the ole economic deck. A home has actual value...a women's study degree? Not so much. The man is running on an economics platform? Scary shit

Bernie Sanders

✔@SenSanders

You have families out there paying 6, 8, 10 percent on student debt but you can refinance your homes at 3 percent. What sense is that?

Of course he doesn't understand economics , he's a socialist

I can go out and vote for a $15.00 minimum wage. Problem solved. The people can also vote to nationalize WalMart if we wanted to. Problem solved.

So you are making the argument of a "Bully". "Because I can". The problem is, there are just more of us than there are of you, at the end of the day.

I EARN a living. How I do it is irrelevant. I don't jump from job to job like you because the other fast food restaurant will let you do burgers instead of fries.

I earn a living, too. I just don't continue to put up with employers who abuse the relationship. Now, this job I just quit, I gave them YEARS to do the right thing. Then I traded it in for something better, going from a $42,000 job to a $55,000 with Stock Options. While I waited for these guys to do the right thing, I also started a side business for extra income, which just had it's best year.

Turns out I was downright prescient. A month after I left, the big corporation that owns the company I worked for announced they were shutting down that site to move those jobs to Mexico.

But you keep telling yourself the 1% are your friends.

These Libtards want free stuff from the government. Free health care, free food stamps, free education, free housing, free utilities, free everything.

They don't want to pay for anything themselves. They want to steal money from "the rich" to pay their bills.

They are greedy despicable leeches. They justify using the government to steal the money for them.

Then when their greed screws up the economy like we have seen in the past few years they try to blame the failure on somebody else.

Cleetus, you done got it ass-backwards.

We did it your way. We gave the rich huge tax cuts. We cut the shit out of help for the poor.

And we ended up with the two worst recessions in decades and the loss of TRILLIONS of dollars in wealth all across the board.

Now, Ideal World, no one needs assistance because everyone has a job that pays a living wage. The only people who need assistance from the government are those who are disabled or too old to work.

That's not the world we live in. We live in a world where 50 years olds get laid off and are largely unemployable because companies won't hire them. Where they send jobs overseas or get machines to do them because they don't want to pay a living wage.

Frankly, I'd rather have an American making $15.00 an hour answering my call to Comcast rather than 20 minutes of playing with a robo-dialer before I get switched to customer service rep in the Philippines making $10.00 a day who barely speaks English.

There are more leeches like you than those of us willing to earn our own way. That's a result of a piece of shit in the WHITE House.

Again, you determine the right thing as being what you want.

Only $55,000? How sad for someone who thinks he's worth so much.

Side business? Being a piece of shit like you can't pay much.

I am no fan of Bernie Sanders, but he does understand economics more than most of the Democrats he sides with. His plans for leveling taxation and social programs are not totally insane.

Anything other than reducing Federal spending by at least a trillion dollars a year is insane.

Americans pay far too much taxes and the cost of combined government in this country is almost 40% of the GDP.

The combined cost of government is the largest single household expense for most Americans regardless of income level. That needs to stop. The greatest economic growth this country ever had was when the combined cost of government relative to GDP was half of what it is now.

The only sane thing to do is significantly reduce the size of government and stop borrowing money. Anything other than that is to continue the insanity.

Sanders stupid idea to increase spending and take the money from the productive job producers in this country is absolute insanity. That kind of socialism has ruined economies around the world.

A sign of poor leadership. That's a problem.

Sad thing is when a Republican President does it in the future, you'll cry foul and say things shouldn't be done that way.

If we are ever stupid enough to put another Republican in the White House, when you guys have put nothing but fuckups there since Ike, that would probably be the least of our problems.

The wars and recessions they bring along with them will be.

Actually, Americans spend less than most European Countries and Japan, and we have a lower quality of life.

Now, you see, once upon a time, before the Billionaire Sugar Daddies convinced stupid people like you government was the problem. Republicans understood the need for government. Ike built the Interstate Highway system, Nixon gave us OSHA and the EPA.

Are there programs we could cut and make more efficient? Yes. But until we make people actually pay for them, don't expect that to happen.

Cleetus, I'd put my resume along side yours any day of the week and know I'd come out better.

The reality is, people stopped buying the GOP Bullshit that the rich are our friends. If you guys didn't have racism and homophobia keeping you afloat, you'd be down there with the libertarians and the socialists.

Summing up this thread so far: USMB RWs understand neither economics, Bernie Sanders, nor the real meaning of socialism, but they're gonna school someone they wouldn't vote for anyway. :lmao:

That's okay, Bernie came up with a tiny fee that will raise hundreds of billions a year.
He's magic!!!

LOL! If that's what you got out of it you're dumber than I thought.
OK, Please explain why student loans should NOT bear a higher interest rate than mortgage loans. Let's see that economics ju-jitsu in action.
