At 20 trillion in debt....the game is over....
...and that doesn't even count unfunded liabilities - of the tune of 200+ trillion.
Socialism has fucked this country

The only thing that is really fucked about this country is the fact that you people are voting your fears and prejudices and do not see anything at all wrong with that. It is so bad you people react with anger and resentment to anything that even looks like optimism, how do you expect to do great things when your entire mentality is built on the idea that the country is a horrible place and there is no hope?

It stems from living in a country where optimism and honesty were commonplace, and morality was the norm. American flags were waved all over the world. Optimism came from having good jobs, and occupations, from being a lending nation, not a borrowing one, producer of the world's goods, the best education, the best healthcare in the world...
Fast forward just one generation, to a depraved, jobless, no growth society. Children are prey, guns are drawn, knock out games, Grand Theft Auto, welfare cards..
We are a bag of bones. It is a horrible place. @ 20 trillion in debt, and no chance of stopping our lying crooked politicians from making it 40 trillion, there is no hope.

I think it's still the best place in the world to live and thrive, you really need to quit watching cable news and basing your entire opinion on the unusually bad things that happen. We have problems to be sure but how do you expect people who already sound defeated to do anything positive about those problems? There is still a lot to be proud of and optimistic about, the first thing that needs to change is your fatalistic attitude and seriously, quit watching the TV news, it is poison.

One generation ago, you voted in a Republican president who changed the tax code to benefit the 1%, who said "trickle down" works, who said "deficits don't matter", who gutted the anti-trust provisions which prevented mega corporations from undercutting small businesses and driving them out of business, and who began negotiations for NAFTA. One generation later, you see the results of that election coming home to roost.

And you blame liberals for this. You really can't fix stupid.

They are entirely occupied with assigning blame to anyone else for the things they see wrong. Practically all they see wrong is the fact that America does not look like Andy Griffith's mythical white paradise of Mayberry.

Right now, it looks like your fascist BLM fantasy utopia.....

Cable news has 0 to do with it, cause I am not an idiot. I base my opinion on the state of affairs when I was a child, to what we have turned into. Do you know that it is considered child abuse to let your child go unaccompanied to the playground now? It is just that dangerous. Did you know that no one used to lock their homes in this country? No need.
If I were to see our country aiming in the direction of positive change, I would indeed become optimistic because I love this country. But I also know that we are still on the destructive path that brought us to here and now, and it is getting progressively worse. Add to that the fact that unless we default on our debts and destroy the dollar in the process, we will never, never recover from a 20 trillion dollar debt. Here is why:

I owe you $100.00 and
I will pay you in one million seconds. You will get your money in 12 days.
I will pay you in one billion seconds. You will get your money in 31 years.
I will pay you in one trillion seconds. You will get your money in 31, 688 years.

Stop being so naive. Everyone had jobs in Mayberry, and Columbus, and Cripple Creek, and Abilene and... Made in America was on every label. We produced everything.

This has nothing to do with righty/lefty. Republicans and Democrats are all cut from the same political cloth.
This isn't a whitey/blackey issue. It is a moral decay issue. A no jobs issue, a global elite issue. Just like ignoring basic facts and instead, blaming the whites, the blacks, the right, the left, the gay and the straight, the old or the young...

Shut the hell up with that tired old script, and tell me how optimistic you are in us paying off the debt that is going to tax us unmercifully just to pay the interest on, and if rates go up, and they are going to, we won't even be able to afford the interest without being taxed to death, and 65% after death! You used to be able to leave your life's work to your heirs. Now the government decides what your children can inherit after Uncle Sam helps himself. < That isn't a right/left issue. That's not black or white issue. That is a greed issue. A spending issue.

Pragmatism is not being optimistic when there is no sign to warrant optimism.
America doesn't look like America anymore.

It's that kind of dire pessimism that makes the right ineffective at solving problems. They get elected decide very quickly that the real problems are too big and then set to solving distraction problems like gay marriage.

The federal government will never fix anything, will never do anything right, there is no hope with the federal government. Only fucked up progressives think the federal government is a good thing. Stupid is... trusting the federal government. Lol

Yeah, we did have the greatest industrial capacity in the world, as well as the most powerful organized labor movement in the world. Republicans decided that the most expedient way to destroy organized labor was to send their jobs away. Republicans broke the unions by throwing the baby out with the bathwater and now they have the temerity to blame it all on liberals? No liberal ever thought outsourcing jobs as a national policy was a good idea but republicans embraced it like the answer to their prayers. Don't like this lousy unstable service based economy? Point some the blame back at yourself, republicans newfound appreciation for economic justice is like wanting to close the barn door thirty years after the horses got out.

True, progressives have no clue on what kind of shit storm we are in for with this debt. It does not matter whether its Trump, hildabeast they will do nothing but make things worse... The fatal thing all societies face is trusting a overbearing all powerful government to do the right thing.

The government is only as good as the people we elect. You keep electing people who tell you the government is horrible and then go do everything they can to make it horrible. You do not expect jack shit from the people you send to Washington. They quickly find out that as long as they keep pointing fingers across the aisle they do not have to deliver anything at all for their home state.

Unions and socialism are what destroyed this country, you can't have those things and have a balance sheet. Socialism can't coexist with any sort of freedom… Fact
