I'm not suggesting there is no substance to what you've said, but it is self-defeating to think in terms of Liberal or Conservative, etc. The kind of one-dimensional (tribal) reasoning that leaves us vulnerable to exploitation by crooked politicians extends across all categories of affiliation and all political belief systems.

It's best to think in terms of individuals rather than parties.

I was a registered Republican going back to 1960. I re-registered as a Democrat in 2003, thanks to Bush & Co. I did not vote for Obama in 2008 and I've become fully aware that he is a puppet of the banks and Wall Street, so I'm aligned with Republicans as far as he's concerned. Big business means big jobs, and big incomes which pay big taxes; a better life for many. Big government means less freedom, and more oppression - that is what I fear. Lumpy is correct: power influences wealth, and money controlls power. What we need is much smaller government, and term limits!
