I don't know if you are familiar with the concept of truth but it would mean that if it is true then it wouldn't matter what Bill O'reilly said because the history of the event would actually be the slaves were well fed. It wouldn't matter what anyone else in the future said about it.

I don't think anyone has ever publicly said "Slavery wasn't that bad". I believe the issue of slavery was settled in 1865 so why not just leave it there so we can talk about something more relevant to today's politics? It would be really great if we can do that but I suspect that a lot of communist have figured out that the best way to destroy this country's ideal of freedom is to destroy it's foundation by presenting the founders as hypocrites.

Bill's a former history teacher, he likes to be as factual as possible. Notice that he did admit that yes slaves were used. Is his claim that those slaves were well fed inaccurate? Yes, or no?

The Constitution was amended by liberal Republicans to abolish slavery, but was resisted by Southern conservatives for another century who insisted states rights took precedence.States Rights trumps Slavery.
Just ask any Southern conservative, circa 50 years ago or more.

The slavery issue at that time hinged on states rights. Conservatives are and were FOR states rights, and states rights were considered essential to protect the slave states.
