They are better relegated to the past, then to events--like in Southern California, or in Connecticut--or in Arizona: Going forward. The Constitution actually adapts! When it does not, it gets Amended. When Amendments go sour, then the Amendments get Amended, or repealed.
Congress is always in the forefront of those kinds of changes.
