Dish network fired a quadriplegic that was prescribed Marijuana in Colorado, because they have a zero tolerance policy.

This is like Popeyes firing one of their managers after she was robbed at gun point for $400.00, because there are a lot of people boycotting that chicken shit company for being so heartless.

To fire the handicapped for using medical Marijuana, even though he didn't use it while on duty, is just as heartless.

Hopefully Dish Network will lose at least half of it's business. Probably much more in Colorado.

Don't be surprised to see Dish file for bankruptcy.

Quadriplegic fired for medical pot can t get his job back New York Post

If the cannabis was via Rx, legal, etc etc. then it shouldn't be any different than any other prescription medication and not subject to any company's drug policies.

How about instead of screwing the whole company you screw just whatever manager is responsible and throw em out the lobby door?

Is likely a legal recourse if the patient did everything legal. Wrongful termination of some sort.

um dude, did you even read the link? The Colorado Supreme Court ruled against him. They ruled that because marijuana was not legal under FEDERAL law , there was no protection.

Also, the Colorado Constitutional amendment SPECIFICALLY states that employees do NOT have to alter their company policies to accommodate marijuana users.

Omfg fuck this world can't I read something positive on this site

The employee broke the law. DN has every right to fire him.

He didn't' break a law M14, he violated company policy. Let's be clear on that.

Yes he did.
As long as the Feds have all pot as illegal, companies have to abide by it.

No they do not

if a company wants to hire people who use marijuana, they are free to do so.

Where do you people come up with this kinda crap? Seriously

It also opens up the Feds to come into it, most companies avoid that.

Not true.

A company does not have to use a testing program, unless otherwise required by contract or statute. However, a company cannot knowingly employ a person engaged in criminal acts.

Essentially - ignorance is a valid defense in this case, but if a guy walks in the door smoking a joint - hiring that person violates the terms of lawful employment.
