Surely the MSNBC lawyers knew what they were doing in allowing this segment
Obamas paid effective tax rate of 18.7 percent in 2015
Oops! MSNBC Reveals Trump Paid 25% Tax Rate – Socialist Bernie Sanders Paid 13% Tax Rate
Corporate Tax Explorer | Comcast

The transgender that is Rachel(blinky) madcow does not even realize trumps critics pay far less than what he does percentage wise...

Yeah, it didn't take long for Trumps son to get that out...Trump was quiet as a mouse last night.

BTW Trump is the one who said that he didn't pay taxes..
The federal government does not deserve any taxes to just waste them on frivolous shit...

There are winners and losers on both sides.

Maddow as winner: she got the big story.

Maddow as loser: Trump really did pay a lot in taxes -- $38 million for 2005.

Trump as winner: he looks rich and successful now, at least during 2005.

Trump as loser: all his $38 million taxes at the ETR of 25% were from Jimmy Carter's 1979 "alt min tax" which Trump is going to have a hard time getting repealed now, since this is the only tax he paid on his $150 million taxable income.

Still better than Romney's 14% on $20 million.
I fail to see how she wins. She looked like a total fool. Hyped the shit up all day then obfuscated her entire program because it was a big fucking dud

Both are illegal, one merely in the possession, the other to disseminate without the permission of the owner. Once they decided to release the information, they became part of the chain of release outside the limits imposed by the owner of said returns.

If the Tax returns actually showed something illegal, that would maybe give Maddow more of a shield from prosecution under the law, but the return shows nothing of the sort. How can she claim her actions were in the public interest when they show nothing but he paid taxes that year?
Are you either a tax lawyer or tax attorney? I am sure the real lawyers at NBC know what they are doing

Just like the lawyers at CBS approved the Dan Rather Bush National Guard Memo?

Nothing is illegal...lol..

He wants the headlines on this , just like it worked on Jeff Sessions and his lying wire tapping tweets..

I note your non-answer, you cheap, dime store hack.

Dude, go ahead and be led like a little puppy...eating up right out of Trumps hand that is feeding you..

It would be illegal if an IRS person leaked it..

Trump is the one who told everyone that he didn't pay taxes...

If there had been anything incriminating I would be agreeing with you...but Trump is lying his ass off right now..

This coming from someone who probably waited, dick in hand, for Maddow to release whatever information she had?

LOLOLOLOLOL.

Regardless of which end of the spectrum you occupy, it really is okay to lower your fists now and then and admit a screwup, or a weakness, or anything negative.

Left wing Slate does it here: Rachel Maddow Turned a Scoop on Donald Trump’s Taxes Into a Cynical, Self-Defeating Spectacle

Are there any Progressives who think this big tax revelation didn't go very well? That it may have actually helped Trump and the GOP?
.

Ok, so what was the proper 'thing' to do, as far as MSNBC and Maddow are concerned?
No need to hype it up. Could of been reported as a tiny sound byte and a reference to the MSNBC website for those that want to look at it.

TRUMP is playing a Putin, trying to get rid of the journalist investigating him, with trumped up charges that he set up.....he learned well from his mentor....

Someone stealing the returns would have stolen the full return, with the information we have all been looking for, not simply the first two pages showing trump making a bundle and paying taxes

That's why it's clear from a common sense perspective that this was engineered by Trump and his cohorts.

Once a con man, always a con man.
If it was engineered by Trump, then Maddow fell for it hook, line and sinker!

This tax return was actually illegally released by The NYT over a year ago, so how stupid is Madcow to think she was getting some kind of scoop?

The NYT probably emailed it to the so called "journalists" involved.

I don't support Donald Trump, and totally think Maddow took the bait. It didn't help that she and MSNBC hyped it up all day.

Two pages of a 2005 tax return were nothing to rile people up over, and were likely leaked by the Trump administration itself to change the strong bipartisan narrative for him to release his current tax returns.

If anyone takes the so-called president down with good solid investigation and facts, it will be Rachel Maddow. Good for her. She needs to keep digging.
She had a nothing burger, mad cow is too stupid for her own good

Maybe this is just the tip of the iceberg....

Well where's the proof? Somewhere with the "Russian connection"? Fucking progressives need to fucking get a life. They don't know their ass from a hole in the ground

Exactly where Trump wants his people...and when they start looking anywhere else he tweets fake wiretapping and his 2 page of nothing taxes..2005 taxes BTW

His taxes are no one's business but his own…

No shit. There was enough info here for a five minute blip at the most.
I will admit that the bitch got me to watch the first 20 minutes of her show and I can't fucking stand her.
I suppose that is a minor victory for her.

Oh she did break a law, the question is, was it covered by journalistic protection? Since there was no law broken, no cover up or compelling reason to disclose that return, I'd say she gets a day on court.

Even without journalistic protections, her disclosure didn't violate any laws. While the person sending her ther infomation may have broken the law if the source was the IRS, or former IRS, or affiliated agent, lawyer, accountant, etc of the IRS. They are the only ones breaking the law.

Wrong without journalistic protection it is called receiving stolen property.

Or the release of his '05 1040 by Trump before the MSNBC Broadcast may have been a tactic to get Trump to distance himself from the health care fiasco & Russian, et al connections in the making. Keep in mind, the copy has "Client Copy" stamped upon it, and only the first two pages of must have been many were released.
Sure, Trump may have duped Maddow.

As I've said, partisan ideologues deserve what they get.
.

And with that you declare that Trump and his people are not partisans.

Goddam that's funny as well!
I missed that declaration from Mac somehow. That being said, Trump isn't a republican establishment partisan. He marches to his own tune. He does shoot from the hip a lot.
