California Passes Measure Requiring Presidential Candidates To Release Tax Returns

It has been the custom for every president to release his tax returns. Now the slut in the Oval Office will not release his, and thinks that he has the powers of a dictator. When will he be responsible? When will his administration be transparent, as we all expect? He must be hiding something, and something big.

Wrong. Only since Nixon, and he was trying to distract by releasing them.

And as I'm sure even you realize, custom is not required.

Now the slut in the Oval Office…

Based on what you've revealed in other postings, with regard to your moral standards [or lack thereof], I find it ironic that you'd refer to anyone else as a “slut”.
To what do you refer? I never slept my way across New York. He did. Sorry, Charlie. I never feared getting an STD because I never had to. What have your standards been throughout your life, including your youth? Given your big moralistic mouth, did you or did you not give the gift of your virginity to your wife?

The requirements for president are listed in the Constitution. States cannot add to them short of a Constitutional amendment..

Yup. And you won't find revealing private tax returns as one of those requirements.

Seems the Governors of some states don't know shit about the Constitution.

can we find collecting some arbitrary number of signatures among those requirements?
You have a point.

What gives States the right to circumvent the constitution to exclude candidates who don't go around getting a bunch of people to sign a petition.

We have uncovered lots of unconstitutional bullshit that the Duopoly has been perpetrating.

.

It also used to be customary for a previous president not to comment on the current one. How's that working out?

I personally do not think they are circumventing the Constitution. How a state runs their elections is left very much up to them.

Previous presidents have complied with tradition. Why can't a previous president speak out about a "president" who does not play by the rules. The slut in the Oval Office seems to be hiding a whole lot.. No wonder that a previous president, who played by the rules, speaks out..Why aren't you, as an American, insisting on transparency.

But, you see how that may be in conflict with the supreme law of the land (the constitution) don't you?

If States are free to run their elections as they see fit, they could use any number of measures to keep certain candidates off the ballot, including race requirements and ballot tests.

That previous "president" has enough skeletons in his own closet, and probably shouldn't be speaking out about our current President. As to "tradition" about taxes, there's no requirement that he provide them to anyone but the IRS, and state government tax offices. YOU do not need to see anyone's taxes.

If Gov. Gavin Newsom signs the bill, Donald Trump would have to release his taxes in order to get on the state’s 2020 primary ballot.
Trump won't win California's electoral votes anyway. So California just saved him the trouble of having to campaign there.

A State can not put conditions on someone legally allowed to run for President.
Tell that to the Libertarians.

States have all kinds of ballot access requirements, many of which are designed to keep propellerheads from getting on the ballot.

And political parties are not in the Constitution. They are private organizations. States can and do regulate them.

So you like someone who is deliberately hiding something. What is stopping your president (not "our" president) from revealing what all of the other presidents have revealed? He acts like a criminal and he probably is on

How childish of you. That I don't show you my personal papers is not hiding anything. It's simply none of your business.

So, since you are not from the United States, why do you even care about President Trump's taxes?

Tax returns are Federal.

They do not involve state.

What CA did cannot be done by a state, it must be done by the Feds.

They changed the freaking law in N.Y. and Ca. to attack the President regardless of the impact on the privacy rights of citizens. No surprises here.

Talk about Mickey Mouse legislation, this one takes the cake.

Interesting though. Although candidates names are on the ballot, voters are really electing representatives to the Electoral College. Ya know, those folks that will go to Sacramento in December and actually cast votes for a candidate. The Constitution doesn't even require a public vote to pick these electors. So to get around it, Republicans would just need to put up a puppet candidate in the state, one who'll commit to release his slate of electors to Trump.

So, if Governor Newsom signs it - Trump will have to produce his tax returns to get on the 2020 California primary ballot.
....

How many times are you going to ignore the hard fact that there is not going to be a Republican primary. This will not have any effect on trump whatsoever.

Why not?
Why not is not relevant. It is a fact and it makes this 'law' irrelevant to Trump. Which is the only reason it exists so this is clearly pointless.
