Yep that is a very good point. Jobs like that just wear your vehicle down and you pay for gas.I delivered pizza's many years ago. The place I worked for is still in business. I drove their truck. Back then Domino's had their own vehicles also (Honda Civics).
The place I drove for still manages to stay in business providing delivery drivers with trucks to deliver their pizza's.
Places like Pizza Hut expects the employee's to use their own vehicles. It means the employee is expected to cover the costs involved. Gas, insurance, maintenance.
In places like California that should be at least $20 an hour.
No…I’m a market guy…govt needs to keep its nose out of running a business at that level. So, you support the $20 minimum wage in California then, since you care.
That’s between the employer, and employee..I delivered pizza's many years ago. The place I worked for is still in business. I drove their truck. Back then Domino's had their own vehicles also (Honda Civics).

There is elasticity of demand depending upon the cost of the pizza. There will be time when the cost will be more than most people are willing to pay.As long as people want delivery there will be jobs at the food delivery services that I had mentioned. That is, until drones take over the task.

The government should back wage theft by employers. No…I’m a market guy…govt needs to keep its nose out of running a business at that level.
Ummmmmmmmmmm, there were other pizza places mentioned. And, we are talking about California, not other states.Pizza Hut? Are they still in business? I guess not anymore, if they can’t get anyone to work for them and how is this ALL delivery drivers?
Wrong, the article only mentions Pizza Hut laying anyone off.Ummmmmmmmmmm, there were other pizza places mentioned. And, we are talking about California, not other states.
Way to go California! What a shithole state. Expect tax revenues to fall even further and prices to increase further, just what hard working Californians need.

California Pizza Hut operators laying off all delivery drivers
Two large Pizza Hut operators in California are laying off all their delivery drivers ahead of a new state law that raises the minimum wage for fast-food workers to $20 an hour, Business Insider reports. The layoffs impact hundreds of Pizza Hut locations across the state including Los Angeles...www.yahoo.com
Pizza Hut was already dying. Franchises have been closing everywhere.LOL! Good. If any of those employees voted for Eric Garcetti, Gavin Newsom, or Joe Biden, they deserve this.

There is a federal tax credit of 65.5 cents per mile that is supposed to cover that. The employer shouldn't be charged for gasoline, wear and tear or insurance for the time the vehicle isn't used for their business.Yep that is a very good point. The $20 is for all workers, not just delivery drivers. They have to cut somewhere.I delivered pizza's many years ago. The place I worked for is still in business. I drove their truck. Back then Domino's had their own vehicles also (Honda Civics).

You are talking about socialism. Americans don't want socialism.I think getting rid of low paying jobs is a good thing, they will eventually be replaced by higher paying jobs. Take the money from the rich and redistribute it to cover the cost of the laid off workers wages, healthcare, and rent till those laid off workers find better paying jobs.
