It depends on the quantum dynamics of the quantum mechanics. From my perspective, we have a mixed-market economy not true capitalism or true socialism, but part capitalism and part socialism. That amount of mixture is enumerated by our social Contract and Constitution.Only national socialists believe we should use capitalism to punish.
Liberal socialists may believe in the rule of law and the concept of equality; we have a federal doctrine and State laws regarding the concept of employment at will.
The right wing has a problem with it, because the poor may benefit.
I'm a liberal but not really a socialist, but I know that (A) it is possible to create housing opportunities, and gainful employment much more than we're doing now, and (B) the Right needs the homeless to scare the shit out of their constituents.
Why, look at the vitriol coming from people like Bush92...that guy is scared shitless.
It's easy to be a conservative until you need help.
PS: What you call, "national socialism" is really fascism. Hitler only coined the term because it was a useful marketing ploy to draw in the labor unions, which he then destroyed.
Nazis are no more "socialist" than North Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) is "democratic".
In any case, the right wing is more prone to use capitalism to punish than to improve our social welfare infrastructure.
Some on the left believe in equal protection of the law in order to advance the Cause of our modern day, civil rights.
