I'm not the slightest bit offended.
Next dumb argument,
You don't count.
The people who do count are offended.

I'm not the slightest bit offended.
Next dumb argument,
Who determines what is "truly" offensive?
As a Christian, I find promotion of homosexuality offensive.....but too bad for me.......
So who's "feelings" matter more....?
That's easy.
Can you demonstrate as a Christian that homosexuality has had a negative effect on your life of the lives of your group? And the answer is no, in fact, quite the reverse.
On the other hand, Jews can make a pretty strong case against the Swastika as as a symbol.
Blacks can make a very strong case against the Stars and Bars.
I'm not the slightest bit offended.
Next dumb argument,
You don't count.
The people who do count are offended.
But they are pieces of material with symbols on them.
Any group could say anything could bring up "bad memories" or "incite hate".
Jews and Blacks were both persecuted and killed, no doubt.
But so were Christians.
People "using" symbols for hate does not make them inherently evil.
It's all in your MIND.
If I decide to hang the Confederate Flag in public, what negative impact would it have on anyone? Piss them off? Hurt their feelings? It can't take their rights away.....
It can't be taken away because people are offended.
Lots of people and groups are offended about lots of things.
Better include the stars and stripes as a symbol of oppression and atrocity.Nope, this is America. Here we believe in freedom. If you don't like it, you move to a community that is more in line with your belief's.
Otherwise, learn the first Amendment sucker. . . .
The first Amendment has limit, which is why sensible people can't display swastikas or kiddie porn in public.
The Stars and Bars need to be added to that list.
Hey, you're forgetting that the PC Police are in charge of deciding what is offensive, who should be offended, how offensive it is, who should be punished for it, and how they should be punished. It can't be taken away because people are offended. Lots of people and groups are offended about lots of things.
Communists killed lots of Christians, millions in fact. Millions of Christians killed by an explicitly atheist philosophy. But they are pieces of material with symbols on them.
Any group could say anything could bring up "bad memories" or "incite hate".
Jews and Blacks were both persecuted and killed, no doubt.
But so were Christians.
No, Christians weren't. Christians were never thrown to lions, that was a myth. The only people who've killed Christians en masse are other Christians arguing about whether Jesus was made of wafers or some such shit.

No, but it will be used by people who WOULD take their rights away, given the opportunity.
It can't be taken away because people are offended.
Lots of people and groups are offended about lots of things.
Uh, yeah, actually, it can. any fool who thinks he has 'rights" should look up "Japanese-Americans, 1942".
What you have are privileges the rest of society grants you. Your privilage of being racist assholes should be revoked.

Or maybe it's just incredibly superficial people who are offended by symbols. Because when they focus on symbols they can avoid dealing with real problems.I'm not the slightest bit offended.

Funny how a mass murder in South Carolina morphs into politicians and their dummy constituents calling for the Confederate flag to be banned from public display. As if they have now dealt with the problems of historic racism in this country. They can congratulate themselves on assuaging their guilt with meaningless symbolisms.Better include the stars and stripes as a symbol of oppression and atrocity.Nope, this is America. kind of a slippery slope, but, not without consideration .....
there is really no "valid" argument on how or where to draw the line

And what has changed with your perceived tipping point? And by the way, racism is everywhere, it isn't restricted by geography. How many black folks belong to your home owners association?Funny how a mass murder in South Carolina morphs into politicians and their dummy constituents calling for the Confederate flag to be banned from public display. As if they have now dealt with the problems of historic racism in this country. They can congratulate themselves on assuaging their guilt with meaningless symbolisms.
I think that the murder was just the tipping point.
African Americans have RIGHTFULLY complained about the Confederate Flag for decades being embraced by racists.
And on the other hand, you have all these dumb-ass Cleetus types in the South who just don't want to accept that their great grandpappy Beauregard was kind of a dupe because he fought in the "War Between The States", probably the dumbest and most pointless war in American history.
Of course, then Cleetus would have to realize he's kind of a dupe today by voting Republican and abortion never gets banned and the gays get married, but his job just got shipped to Mexico.
But you're wanting the government to ban the flag, that's a whole different matter.
NOt really. IT's a symbol or racism and hate, and displaying it should be classified as a hate crime.
Nope, now they are hanging out, trolling our message boards. Aren't they Mac?Hey, you're forgetting that the PC Police are in charge of deciding what is offensive, who should be offended, how offensive it is, who should be punished for it, and how they should be punished.
Are the PC police still hiding under your bed, Mac?
As a member of the PC Police, Joe gets cranky when I point their behaviors out. Even to the point of still posting to me, even asking me questions, even though he knows I have him on ignore. Unfortunately, I still see his posts when I quote others.Nope, now they are hanging out, trolling our message boards. Joe's position on guns, freedom and a great many other things remind's me of someone else. He has a very strict political point of view. Who is it. . . . hmmmm . . . .As a member of the PC Police, Joe gets cranky when I point their behaviors out. I've gotten under their skin by shoving a mirror in their face, if you'll pardon the mixed metaphor.

Carson: People can wave the Confederate Flag on private property - CNNPolitics.com
Ben Carson said Tuesday that he has no problem with people flying the Confederate flag -- as long as they do it on private property.
"As a general principle, people can do whatever they want on their private property -- that's one of the basic tenets of freedom in America," Carson said in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. "I am not opposed to anybody doing whatever they want to do on their private property."
I concur with Dr. Carson. What people do on their private property is their business. I don't care, nor do I need to care. Dr. Carson just had a lucid moment, I would say....
Discuss. What do you think?
What's to discuss? If people want to be tards that's their right. So long as they don't interfere with others who the hell cares. Or even should care. Too many damned busy bodies around here.
