Catholic Bishops Oppose Compromise on Birth-Control

For that discrimination to be true the church would have to be buying the men condoms.

Another whack job that can be dismissed.

What would be the ruling if the church allows Viagra for the males?

Some women use birth control as a form of hormone therapy to stay healthy.
how about themslves paying for it themselves/ Never occurred to you?

Idiot

If the insurance covers things like Viagra for men as a form of hormone therapy, they should also cover birth control for the same reason.

But, I thought a brilliant retard such as yourself would know that.

That is why they have health insurance, and pay a premium. So if they do hormonal problems they don't have to pay all of it themselves. Like I said, you are an idiot.

I don't pay for dental insuance every month so I can pay for the total cost of a dental treatment. Otherwise what is the point?

I just realized that this issue is just another example of how the GOP creates a crisis and then they try to make themselves the victims in the controversy that they created in the first place. Its about controlling the message.

Woman want their right to choose. This is the right attacking women's rights, no more no less. I think most women should and would vote against that.

I have a few questions.

  1. How did the GOP create a crisis?
  2. How is the GOP making themselves the victims in this imaginary crisis?
  3. How does allowing Catholics to not pay for birth control affect a woman's right to choose anything?

We are not playing what if.

If the church covers that item post it.

I am not interested in your BS.

Post facts or shut up.

question;you do realize how simple and cheap it is to acquire or practice birth control....right?

I don't understand this either, except to say this is the just an example of Federal "Big" Government flexing it's arm to see how far they can get into dictating what everyone else ought to do or support. If your views don't happen to agree with this new form of Obamacare it doesn't really matter, Government feels they have a right to enforce THEIR views on the rights of every American's value of beliefs. Had Government (under a pro-life president) dictated that abortions would no longer be covered in women's health care under the administrations belief the unborn ought to have constitutional rights as well, that we should all compromise on this, I'm sure the outcry would be from the left demanding their position be recognized and upheld.

What about the women who are hired by either the colleges or by the hospitals to work there who doesn't have Catholic beliefs, and therefor thinks that birth control is okay?

Is it fair for the Catholic church to force their workers to share their beliefs?

First off, if you work for a Catholic hospital or study at a private christian school, how is it you are even SURPRISED when they don't support paying for or providing contraception? Did the light bulb all of a sudden decide to come on and you said . . . . . oh yeah, no wonder? Why should the church compromise their values of beliefs simply to make you happy?

Second, when have you ever applied for a job and have NOT asked during the interview about more information regarding their benefit package? If they don't provide any vacation pay, and you know your family likes to take one week of summer vacation every year, will you be looking for somewhere else for employment? You have the free choice of WHERE you want to work, and are susceptable to the benefits and policies THAT corporation dictates you are to follow, extra drug screenings as a part of corporate policy . . whatever, so long as those policies aren't illegal or violate any Federal laws.

They cover Viagra, that is close enough for me. I wonder what else they cover? Vasectomies? One should look into that.

Its amazing instead of right wingers insisting that the insurance companies offer us/them more services, the insurance companies and corporate media got these right wingers arguing for the insurance companies. I guess right wingers don't fuck or use birth control.

Why should the insurance company cover birth control? Besides it is preventative medicine that saves us all money in the long run? Because we pay them a shit load of money every year.

Are you such a cheap bastard you can not afford that 30 dollars a month? They can afford the premium but not the script. BS

Are the top 1% so cheap that they can't afford to give up the Bush tax breaks?

Funny you want a single mother of 2 who makes $30K a year to stop being a cheap ass and buck up the $30 a month but you won't let Mitt Romney pay more than 12% in taxes?

Backward thinking my friend. I know, personal responsibility.

And how many other ways are the GOP costing us more? I can think of one. Rick Snyder cut corporate taxes and had to come up with some extra money so he raised our car registration an extra $100. I know that's nothing to you, but it is to many middle class Americans barely getting by.

This is what you on the right don't understand and it is going to cost you in November.

You have asked us to give up quite enough. Its time for your masters to pitch in their fair share.

And sorry, but the insurance company ceo is only going to make $20 million this year and not $40 million because he/they have to pay for birth control.

Why? Because we (our government) says so.

Ron Paul and the GOP's every man for himself policy sucks and we are going to take back the House.

Like you claim? YOU are wrong. YOU want someone else to pay for the whole enchilada like the lazy wench that you are.

I have asked all the idiots that said this. including you, how Catholics not paying for something is forcing other people to accept their beliefs? Does the fact that you do not give the Catholic church money mean you are forcing them to accept yours?

You don't understand how insurance works. You should cancel every insurance policy you have.

This is good for the president. It puts him on the right side of the issue at every level,

birth control in general, making birth control available, and being the one willing to compromise vs. some scary extremists in the bowels of the Catholic church hierarchy.

In what way was birth control NOT available for those who desired to receive it? Also, do you honestly think that this move of "free contraception" by the Federal Government, will prevent those in poverty from having even MORE kids if it means their "bread and butter" coming from the government (on the backs of other, more responsible taxpayers)?

There is another way Obama is going to win votes from women. This would cost women on average an extra $800 a year. So the GOP are in favor of costing the average woman an extra $800 a year. Put that on a bumper sticker.

Secondly, hell yes this prevents a lot of births. Why else do you think right wing wackos care so much?

And the last point, which I'm sure will go over your conservative head. This is preventative medicine! A lot of poor women take advantage of the free contraceptives. Are you following this? Now if they had welfare babies, we would pay a lot more than $800 a year.

And while you righties want to force poor people to have babies, you are cutting them off from welfare and foodstamps?

Your side is cruel and doesn't make sense.

Here's something to put on a bumper sticker, Democrats want you to pay more for health insurance.

Unless, that is, you are as stupid as Obama.

I would also like to know where I said I want someone to pay for me? If I pay a premium and work hard for a company I expect them to discriminate against me because I am a women.

And I put ten bucks on me working a lot harder than you. What do you contribute to society? I am guessing nothing more than hate.

You think the government should resort to threats of violence and extortion if anyone challenges it. That makes you a fascist.

Good to know.

You seem to think it was okay that the Catholic Church engaged in a conspiracy to hide pedophiles... I don't.

The men in dresses want to play hardball, let's play hardball.

I don't think it is OK, I just understand that it is a separate issue and that everyone has rights.

Correct. Women have a right to get proper health care if that's part of their employment contract. The EEOC has already ruled on this issue about 12 years ago.

There's no Church right to impose their beliefs on their employees who are not in the business of doing the actual clergy work.

It's a simple enough concept, but you guys are really desperately looking for an issue. This isn't it. There are a lot of much better issues to go after Obama and the AHA on. This isn't one of them. It just gets women who might actually support overturning the more onerous aspects of ObamaCare defending it.

Which is really, I suspect, exactly what Obama had in mind.

But YOU are for Obama and the Government burning the Constitution in the meantime.

Do you have proof of that, or did you just jump on the bandwagon because you think it makes them look like hypocrites? Are you even aware Viagra treats things other than ED? That it is sometime prescribed to children for pulmonary hypertension?

Birth Control Pills treat other things besides not wanting to have babies...

Not true at all.

And costs went up 200% from 2000-2006. You are only complaining now because now you think you can put it on Obama. Trust me, Obamacare is going to keep costs in check.

You must be a Fox viewer. They did a survey and Fox viewers are the most uninformed on things like

Obamacare
Did Obama lower or raise your taxes
And did Saddam have something to do with 9-11.

Fox misled you on purpose. See, you are being brainwashed with lies and false propoganda.

Wow.

As I said the last time you said that, the EEOC can say all sorts of things, and get overturned in court. The EEOC ruled a few years ago that churches couldn't fire people without government approval, that went all the way to the Supreme Court, and was unanimously struck down this year. The case you think is so wonderful hasn't even got past one judge, never mind the Supreme Court. In fact, EEOC is supposed to issue a revised ruling this month, my guess is they will simply argue that their ruling is not moot because the HHS rule takes precedence.
