CBO Report says Immigration Bill will lower deficit

CBO: Immigration bill would decrease deficit by $197 billion over 10 years - First Read

So much for the Republican Fairy Tale that immigrants add to the deficit.

Illegal immigrants do add to the deficit.

On the whole?

They don't.

In fact they reduce it..because they pay taxes, contribute to Social Security and for the most part..most don't collect.

They also take low end jobs, cheaply, that no one else will do.

You assume they don't get paid under the table for the most part or end up in prisons and in our schools.

The CBO can only work with the numbers given to them. They can't do independent research.

In theory, I could jump to the Moon and dispense Ice Cream out of my ass.

In theory.

The CBO has never been right, most recent example was the New Health Care Act.
They were so off on that one.

It will cost us more if they become legal citizens and are added to all of what they could get with the government handouts.

The majority of Americans wants the boarder secured first and this bill does not do this.
This is what they always do. Amnesty first, then secure the boarders and then they never get around to securing the boarders.

The CBO report is assuming that the illegals will all begin to pay taxes, hence the decrease in the deficit. Key word, begin. I thought illegals were already paying taxes?

Did the CBO account for all of the illegals that are already paying taxes? Hmmmmmmmm?

Bingo

It also assumes all will be working... yet MANY will be on the entitlement tit.. many will be in prison.. many will be taking advantage of more government programs..

It is illogical to think the illegal influx will be a reduction in deficit or debt... it will add additional strain on the country.. and you can take that to the bank

The CBO only scores the assumptions it is given to test.

This analysis makes the common error of assuming taxation does not affect behavior.

Low skilled or non skilled laborers are the primary beneficiaries of public benefits. Most of them pay no federal taxes at all, they instead get money from the earned income tax credit program. Illegal immigration has been one of the causes of California's near bankrupt status.

Public Employee Unions are a bigger cause of CA's budget problems. Excessive pension benefits are crowding out funds for actual services.

Where is that the Unions fault?

If the State agrees to pay a certain salary and certain pension benefits and never sets aside money to pay for those pensions why is it the union employees fault when it comes time to pay that pension?

This thread is so dumb....

If the CBO had any credibility it wouldn't have to run estimates on policies/bills 3,4,5,6 times. Chit, Obamacare is over double the CBO's original claims. Hell, at first the CBO had Obamacare saving us money, now it's a money sink.

Of course when the CBO does it's revised estimate and people point out that "As expected costs for program ____ are going up," the useless Obamabots like RW, Rtard, Swallow, Shaman, Black_Lable and others will claim "OOOOooh so NOW the CBO is right!!!"

No, the CBO is never fucking right. The CBO is nothing more than a political tool used by politicians to sell you expensive programs. The only interesting part about the CBO is that people have them run numbers on that same programs repeatedly, once again as a political tool.

Because it's common knowledge that public sector Unions are in bed with politicians who use them to buy votes. The Unions use the politicians to get contracts that the tax payers can't afford. In the end the tax payers, middle class and poor get screwed because public unions are on mass welfare.
