Amazing how this young woman is so dedicated that she spends hours each day "directing a revolution."

Chicago Student Takes on Syrian Regime in Documentary
#ChicagoGirl documentary focuses on Alaa Basatneh’s relentless efforts to expose the brutal conflict and deadly battles in Syria.
By Tammy Leitner and Lisa Capitanini
Armed with only a laptop and the strength of social media, Alaa Basatneh helped guide a revolution more than 6,000 miles away from her home. NBC Chicago's Tammy Leitner reports. (Published Wednesday, Apr 8, 2015)

Alaa Basatneh was just a teenager when she waged war with one of the most powerful dictators in the world, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Armed with only a laptop and the strength of social media, Basatneh helped guide a revolution more than 6,000 miles away from her home in Chicago. Now Basatneh’s effort to help communication efforts in the war torn region are highlighted in a documentary opening here this week.

  • "When the revolution started in Syria, activists needed help," said Basatneh, who is now 23 years old.

I don't see where she is helping terrorists but is helping the opposition, the FSA. Can you show us where the FSA have been put on a list of terrorist groups? Since you are an ex-Syrian citizen like that Chicago girl is, perhaps Germany should arrest you for siding with Assad since he is killing his own civilians. I realize you posted this at 1:00 a.m. in Germany because you thought it was very important so you can check up on the terrorist list after you have caught up on your sleep. After all you even responded to Aris around 4:30 a.m. in Germany so it is apparent you have no problem in showing us that you are so devoted to your buddy Assad that you are his Sentinel around the clock.

FSA is a resistence group against the BAATHIST PIG----
Assad. Baathism is the "arab" form of Nazism-----they
have committed genocides thruout the middle east---
Saddam was a Baathist. The only book to be translated
into Arabic in the entire decade 1930s was Mein Kampf which
remains a Baathist handbook

We don´t have to speak of what it is but rather of what is was. FSA is not a major player on the battlefields and is not even operating unassisted anymore.
The difference between what the SNC represents in the western public, and what the FSA was in reality, unveils the false picture the westerners got injected.
Both moderate and hardcore Islamist wings rejected the SNC. They called the SNC "Five Star Hotel Opposition", whose representatives "represent just themselves and their wifes" and mocked the SNC guy who declared himself the President of Syria, when he created a twitter account. The SNC has no say on the ground and never had.
What used to be the moderates was just a tiny fraction made up for the SNC to present it. What could Shiites and Alawites or Christians have to do with a Sunni sectarian warfare? Could they accept an Osama Bin Laden Brigade in their ranks?

thanks for the citation-----I never knew how to interpret
the Syrian spring alphabet soup. I am a typical
American -----completely uninformed about Syria and
its current turmoil-----as completely uninformed about
the alphabet groups----I am probably less COMPLETELY
uninformed than most americans -----what makes you
imagine that there is propaganda over here about your
various groups? not mentioned on the news at all-----
the only mention amounts to-----"lots of violence in Syria"---
I assure you----the overwhelming majority of americans
never heard of "baathism" or "alawite"----and do not
care. Thruout my youth I thought Syria was a Christian
country------we got lots of "Syrians" in the USA----
they were running away from something as far back
as I can remember (1950s)----circa 1970 I noticed that
Syrians in the USA were just as afraid to discuss HAFEZ---
as Haitians were afraid to discuss PAPA DOC DUVALIER

The majority might be sunni, the majority of syrians were sunni, but most of the officers that left Assad's army were shiite. It is made up of christians, kurds, shiites and secularists.

It is not about a theocracy or religious domination in government.
