Children Beheaded in Africa, White House is Silent.

Who cares? Shouldn't be our problem to comment on.

If anything, our entanglement (through foreign aid and drawing up arbitrary borders that don't account for ethnic groups/religions) exacerbates the problem. Over-population and tribal/ethnic conflict are what drive the instability over there.

Yes, an old thread, but in light of recent kidnappings of hundreds of girls, maybe had Obama did something about the Children being beheaded the current kidnappings would never of happened.

Well no.

Places like West Africa didn't happen over night.

The "countries" in Africa, like those strangely enough, in the Middle East, are the result of colonialism.

When one set of folks completely dominate and screw up the ethnic/cultural identities of another set of folks, this is generally the result.

And there's no easy fix.

the result of colonialism? bullshit!

He's a liberal. He's has to blame the white man. It's in his DNA.

I've seen the photos of children amputees due to Muslims wielding machetes against them. It is time to confront the problem head on and the problem is Islam.
Yet, in the civil war that took place in Rwanda where 10's of thousands of people were killed and maimed.

It was Christian Hutus vers Christian Tutsis who where wielding the machete's and amputating peoples limbs. ..

I'm sure there is much more going on Africa and elsewhere that is beyond belief.

It would seem that this will be a focus for the next half century at least. What can ever be done----I have absolutely no idea.

It was very disturbing to hear someone in Nigeria tell a parent--'You need to think of your daughter as dead'. That seems to be the reality.

Maybe the world community can come up with a fake environmental concern and say DDT is very harmful to it. That way they can be justified in not spraying vast areas to control the mosquito populations, which will prevent the spread malaria.

Malaria is responsible for millions of deaths in Africa. Especially in those villages that are poor and over populated.

They need malaria to spread or else the over population of these undesirables will grow exponentially.

Oh wait a minute.......

I think they already did this. I wonder why they still ban DDT now that it is a well known fact that it does nothing to the environment.

Is Obama supposed to comment on every crime that occurs in every corner of the earth?

Moreover, I suspect that even if the president did comment on this, the OP would conveniently fail to mention it.

Furthermore, if he actually did and someone were to point that fact out - he would just switch gears to some other bullshit.

This seems to be the norm around here.

Well, if first you don't succeed, try, try, again.

I hear many statements coming from the White House, and considering we have a President whose ancestry is from Africa, I wonder why the silence in light of the brutal murder of children in Africa.

UNICEF - Press centre - Horrific cruelty and violence against children in Central African Republic must end: UNICEF

At least 133 children killed or maimed in past two months

NEW YORK/DAKAR, Senegal, 13 February 2014 – UNICEF officials in the West Africa region said today they are horrified by the cruelty and impunity with which children are being killed and mutilated in the Central African Republic.

According to the UN children’s agency, recent weeks have witnessed unprecedented levels of violence against children in sectarian and retaliatory attacks by anti-Balaka militia and ex-Séléka combatants – acts that constitute grave violations against children.

“Children are increasingly targeted because of their religion, or because of their community,” said UNICEF West and Central Africa Regional Director, Manuel Fontaine. “Sectarian violence in Central African Republic has intensified, both in the capital Bangui, and in the west and centre of the country.”

At least 133 children have been killed and maimed, some of them in horrific ways, in two months of escalating ethno-religious violence. UNICEF has verified cases of children intentionally beheaded and mutilated, and is aware of cases of children wounded in the cross-fire, who have had to have limbs amputated because insecurity blocked them from getting to the hospital in time for treatment. In the town of Boali, northwest of the capital, one in four casualties has been among children, with 22 killed and 42 injured since early December.

"Knucklehead self-destruction is never going to burn itself out. You wanna send troops there, oh look more stuff going on over there."

- "Toby Ziegler, The West Wing"

Isn't for the US to send troops anywhere to prevent what amounts to a internal security issue. If these 3rd world shitholes wanna slaughter themselves let them. Isn't worth a single American life to save any number of them.

Why has it always come down to the US to save the world? It's a job not even God can handle..

Barry's too busy concentrating on the mass of brutal murders and maimings taking place daily back home in Chicago.

White House: Obama issues sanctions on 5 officials in Central African Republic after escalating violence, human rights abuses - @Reuters - breakingnews.com

A Lot more to the picture than meets the eye.

It never ceases to amaze me how lazy posters on this site actually can be at times when starting threads - they hear something through a very biased and unreliable "news" outlet and immediately re-post it without any kind of fact-checking - you folks are only getting part of the story here, read about it....

Bangui almost purged of Muslims – UN official

Nearly 100,000 Muslims have fled the capital Bangui fearing reprisal attacks from Christian militia [AP]

As UN investigators begin to examine reports of genocide committed by Christian militias in the Central African Republic (CAR), one of its official has said that less than 1000 Muslims remain in the capital Bangui.
Last week, UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos said 99 per cent of the city’s once 100,000 Muslims have fled the violence which began when the government fell in December.

Her report was backed by UN High Commissioner for Refugees who said that ethnic cleansing may have occurred in other parts of the country.

In a statement published on February 12, Amnesty International said international peacekeeping forces “have failed to prevent the ethnic cleansing of Muslim civilians in [CAR].”

The organization described global response to the crisis as “tepid.”

Reports said that tens of thousands of Muslims have been displaced, and at least 2,000 citizens have been killed since the largely Muslim Seleka rebel group took over government last March in a country that is largely Christian.

The current crisis in CAR – a mineral rich nation of 4.6 million people – began when Seleka – a rebel amalgamation of several different factions – started moving toward the capital Bangui in March 2012, hoping to remove Francois Bozize, a military officer who seized power in 2003 and had been elected president twice since then.

The largely Muslim rebel group Seleka seized control of the Christian-majority country in the aftermath, and in some instances attacked and killed Christian civilians.

Early in January, the country’s National Assembly selected Catherine Samba-Panza to be the next president replacing Michel Djotodia – a Muslim, and former Seleka comander - who fled the capital Bangui to Benin in early January, a move that suggested violence might be quieting down in the capital.

However, Christian militias and citizens have upped their attacks against Muslim citizens in recent weeks, claiming to be avenging crimes committed by the rebel militias last year.

In December, UN Security Council mandated an investigation of human rights abuses in Central African Republic for an initial period of one year to assist building a case against perpetrators should the need arise.

But this did little to halt the attacks.

In January, Adama Dieng, the UN’s chief special advisor on genocide prevention, warned that CAR was at a “high risk of crimes against humanity and genocide.”

Citing reports of atrocities being committed even against children and entire villages being razed to the ground, Dieng said, “The level of hatred between these communities shocked me”....
