We have not been moving toward more lax gun laws. In fact where gun laws are strictest is where we have the most crime.

States with the most lax gun laws have lower murder rates than states with the strictest gun laws.

Despite all of the UK's gun laws, gun bans and gun confiscation their murder rate has not dropped below the level is was before all those laws bans and confiscations

So I don't really know how you can say that the same here will lower our murder rate since our murder rate is still what it was in the 1950's

The Church usher should get a medal. While unarmed he confronted a man with a gun, got severely pistol whipped as a result. This alone saved lives as it slowed down the attacker and distracted him.
