Civil War Hero Awarded the Medal of Honor at Last

What about the largest military base in the free world? And thats just for starters.

United States property
yep, federal funding would be cut immediately then what would the secessioners do?

Texas has plenty of money.
you mean U.S. currency? :eusa_eh: What good would that do them when they secede?

As if that would matter. Good God you're a dumbass!!

You know, that might surprise you, but US dollars are used not only in US. Lots of countries use dollars are currency. So if Texas decides to secede, nothing would prevent it from using US dollar. Moreover, it won't even need gold to support it.

I believe they would have to have the U.S. permission to use American dollars.

But, be that as it may.....why hasn't Texas seceded yet? What the heck is keeping them?

You people of the South don't know what you are doing.( no surprise even today) This country will be drenched in blood, and God only knows how it will end. It is all folly, madness, a crime against civilization! You people speak so lightly of war; you don't know what you're talking about. War is a terrible thing! You mistake, too, the people of the North. They are a peaceable people but an earnest people, and they will fight, too. They are not going to let this country be destroyed without a mighty effort to save it … Besides, where are your men and appliances of war to contend against them? The North can make a steam engine, locomotive, or railway car; hardly a yard of cloth or pair of shoes can you make. You are rushing into war with one of the most powerful, ingeniously mechanical, and determined people on Earth — right at your doors. You are bound to fail. Only in your spirit and determination are you prepared for war. In all else you are totally unprepared, with a bad cause to start with. At first you will make headway, but as your limited resources begin to fail, shut out from the markets of Europe as you will be, your cause will begin to wane. If your people will but stop and think, they must see in the end that you will surely fail.

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

The War of Southern Rebellion was a sad chapter in this great nation's history. Thankfully, the secessioners/clingers/slave rapists were put down/quashed :)

No, you don't have to get U.S. permission to use American dollars as your currency.

The reason Texas hasn't seceded is the knowledge of what happened the last time it seceded. Thousands of dead people tend to make you think hard before taking such a step. We've already seen how ruthless and bloodthirsty the American government can be.

You are thankful to a gang of mass murdering rapists, pillagers and arsonists. The saddest thing about the Civil War is the way Lincoln wiped his ass on the Constitution, turned this country into a police state, and waged war on his fellow Americans.

He waged war on a nation that was established to protect the institution of slavery
A country built on the suffering and subjugation of others

So you admit he invaded a sovereign country. Should we invade the Sudan because it practices slavery? How about sending troops to Iraq to wipe out ISIS for the same reason?

The North wouldn't be so successful.........if it happens again!

Spoken like a true gun nut

In the 1860s having a rifle and a few cannons were great equalizers on the battlefield. Even at that, the Souths lack of a Navy cost them the war

Modern warfare requires tanks, helicopters, aircraft and a navy to win. None of which are available to a secessionist south

The Navy didn't cost the South the war, the railroad did.

Not only is it US currency, most money is maintained in the banking system. You click a few times and all of the money in Texas is transferred to the coffers of California.

The south was never a sovereign country. They were bad children that got a spanking. Last I heard the Sudan and Iraq were never part of the US.
