Closing or Blocking Pipelines

How does oil or gas get transported if pipeline infrastructure gets closed, blocked, or otherwise sabotaged by our government? Is alternative transport cleaner than pipelines?

Now it isn't. But Buffet owns the trains that will be hauling that oil across the US, and he gives big bucks to the Democrat party at election time.

Do you think they will stop hauling it by rail? Has any one pledged to stop the trains? I'm all for the refiners working a full capacity on the Gulf Coast, but lets not fool ourselves, They want to increase export to the US by giving Alberta tar a more direct route
No one has ever moved such useless oil product anywhere. There are no spills or transport systems to look at with any substantive data.

It's been transported to the US for years and years.

Not at any scale

Because it's basically fucking useless

The profit margins will never justify the risks to the water table where it's being transported through.

Not at any scale

Bullshit.
They export over 2 millions barrels a day to the US.

Where are you getting this number from?

2 mil a day lol

2 million in hollistic oil products maybe. Not 2 million barrels of fucking sand tar you dumb fuck

Closer to 4 million + barrel a day to the USA. Last data was Nov. 2020. 128 million barrels that month.

You have not demonstrated that you read and understood the opening post. A picture worth a thousand words...

Here is my orginal response to the OP.

" The same way we transported the over 3 million barrels we imported from Canada yesterday! No working pipeline has been shut down or 'sabotaged' by our government. Do you think we should?"

You seem to think that some operating pipeline has been closed.

Not closed but not running to capacity.

My bad, I should have said "closed down by an EO from the new administration",

Some one explain how a different president changes the price of gas? 30 cent rise in gas to the area where you live. over the last month? what does that mean? the price of gas has gone up and down Forever.

It means that the signals Biden was sending the major oil producers like the Saudis changed relative to Trump

Trump no doubt told them to keep it cheap

Biden probably didn't tell them to do anything, he might have been dumb enough to voice a request for higher prices but i doubt it.

LOLOL.. Trump didn't tell the Saudis to keep the ppb low. Demand has been down for a year world wide because of Covid. KSA doesn't sell much oil to the US for the past 15 years or so. Their big markets are in Asia and Europe.

Yes he did

Via jared

He talks about energy prices all the time it's an easy way for the saudis to please the most powerful man on earth.

The Saudis take the long view... They are always courteous to US presidents... but they knew Trump was a jackass.

LOL what are you talking about

Jared brought us closer than we've ever been

Got them to start doing business openly with the Israelis. Which their populace no doubt hates

The Saudis have been doing business with Jews on US Passports for 25 years. Every time I go back to KSA Irun into them at the luxury hotels.

Do you mean the pipeline that Trump didn't want built from Russia to Germany or the one Trump did want for China called the Keystone pipeline XL?

OMG you're stupid. China does NOT want the pipeline, Nazi. Without the pipeline, Canada ships the oil to the pacific. With it, it goes to the Atlantic.

Hello. China is on the PACIFIC ocean, Texas is on the Atlantic.

You're the dumbest fascist Democrat on the site, and that's seriously something.

Buy a MAP, nitwit.

Moonglow the stupid fuck: You see kaz, China wants the oil in Texas so they can ship it from the Atlantic ocean to the pacific.

OMG you're stupid

China invested in the oil field in Alberta the tar sands comes from.do try to keep up. Why do you think the Keystone XL is an international operation?

A Democrats solution is always worse than what we have. They've just gone to fascism anyway, they can't defend their stupid positions with reason to they do it with violence

Google a map of the Canadian pipeline project. It spans Canada to the pacific ocean. The oil was never all crossing the US. China wants oil on the PACIFIC ocean, not the Atlantic. Without the pipeline, more oil will be shipped to the Pacific. Other oil would be shipped on trains and busses, which are LESS environmentally friendly than pipelines.

I told you to Google a map. Hello, Texas is on the ATLANTIC ocean. Think about it. But don't hurt yourself. You have no experience thinking, like here you just make your shit up.

No wonder you morons are just going to fascism now. Gotta shut down dissent since you can't argue your way out of a wet paper bag

Why do we allow on ounce of the oil in the pipelines to leave our shores?
There is different quality levels of oil. We receive a better quality in the amount needed for us from overseas. We still produce good quality oil. We send lesser quality overseas. Whatever the reasons, there is enough in production to keep the costs lower then when we play games like Biden is doing.

We don't export crude oil.

That's false. Your concept is right in that the US is a NET importer of crude oil and we're a net exporter of petroleum. But it's wrong that we don't import petroleum or export crude oil

We export some refined products.... We don't export crude. We IMPORT crude AKA petroleum.. although not as much as we used to. Who do we export crude oil to?

Crude oil is a naturally occurring, unrefined petroleum product composed of hydrocarbon deposits and other organic materials. A type of fossil fuel, crude oil can be refined to produce usable products such as gasoline, diesel, and various other forms of petrochemicals.

Apparently, we do. Over $50 billion worth last year.

Repeating that we don't export crude doesn't make it so. You're still wrong.

I was nice about it you know, I said that you're right about "net" exports. But your statement we don't export crude isn't correct.

" U.S. crude oil export volumes have increased to an average of 2.8 million barrels per day (b/d) in the first seven months of 2019 "

What countries other than Canada?

Democrats don't solve, they attack. Without the pipeline, they ship it on trains and trucks. And we send money to despots across the world instead of Canada.

With the pipeline they will still ship it on trains.

Canada dwarfs all others.

Two arguments with no point between them.

"With the pipeline they will still ship it on trains." - And? They still ship it short distances on trains and that's relevant to them shipping it across the center of the country in a pipeline instead of on trains and trucks how? That's seriously your argument? Well kaz, they still ship it short(er) distances on trains, so there! So where?

"Canada dwarfs all others" - That this is a big issue is support for that you attack without solving the issue makes sense? How do you figure that?

Canadian tar sands are really thick, sour and corrosive. They have to dilute it with light crude to get it to flow.. It never occurred to me they would be buying Texas sweet..

Exactly, what was your point. My point is that stopping construction on the Keystone XL has not stopped a single gallon of oil from being exported from Canada, nor will finishing it stop any rail shipment of oil from Canada either. Most of our oil import come from Canada already.

Your point is that stopping a pipeline that wasn't complete hasn't changed how much oil has been sipped. More of your inane babble. No wonder you just resort to supporting fascism

He's absolutely correct, it didn't stop any flow of oil, but that's not how gasoline prices are affected.

When commodity traders hear of the least disturbing news, they buy long contracts. When enough people buy long contracts, that increases the price of fuel as we have just seen. So it's less about the actual product amount than it is how traders perceive the news about the commodity.
