The article makes for an interesting read, but I think there is a very strong wish on the part of the extreme right wing to now pretend McCarthyism was justified. Doubtless there were the occasional spy here and there, but you aren't going to convince many people there were 200 spies in the White House. With 200 spies they would have turned the government with relative ease.

Bogart and Chaplin had nothing to do with McCarthy. They were called to testify before HUAC, the HOUSE Unamerican Activities Committee. Someone who pontificates about McCarthy should at least try to make it appear he knows something about the subject.
