It’s different because there’s no ‘right’ to receive public assistance, as opposed to gay Americans’ right to equal protection and due process of the law. Consequently no one is ‘using’ public assistance to get anyone to vote. The notion that those who apply for or receive public assistance vote one particular way or the other is an ignorant partisan myth.
