Leftist judges and prosecutors all over the country are using hyped fears of coronavirus to push for early releases of criminals, ostensibly to ‘protect them’ from being ‘infected.’
The notion that you can better protect inmates by releasing them into the general public where the virus is prevalent rather than keeping them in jail (where a jury or a judge sent them) is asinine. In jail, they can be quarantined; if they get sick, they’ll get treatment, and all on the taxpayer’s dime because that’s the way it works.
In any event, law enforcement experts have been warning these releases were not just stupid but bad public policy, and they’ve been proven right.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Joseph Edward Williams, 26, was arrested Monday in connection with a March 20 murder in the 8000 block of Ash Avenue.

Last month, 164 inmates were released from jail due to coronavirus.

Sheriff Chad Chronister said the inmates released were all non-violent, low-level offenders.

Williams actually spoke to Spectrum Bay News 9 upon his release March 19.

"I feel wonderful," Williams said that day as he walked outof jail. "It's a blessing that I'm getting released."

Chronister said Williams was arrested after shooting and killing a man in the Progress Village area on March 20 - a day after he was released.

In a statement released after the arrest, Chronister said: "Judges, prosecutors and sheriffs around the country are facing difficult decisions during this health crisis with respect to balancing public health and public safety.

Williams is facing charges of second-degree murder, resisting an officer, being felon in possession of a firearm and possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. His bail has been set at $280,500.
