Cop runs over suspect on purpose.

Maybe I'm not being clear.
The guy working the gun counter more than likely handed the gun to the guy willingly. All he had to do was pose as a customer.
Once he had the gun in his hands all he had to do was load it.
I'm not saying this is what went down, but it would be one explanation.

Or just take off running. The gun counter at my Walmart is about 15 strides from the tire and lube door that leads outside.

They dont require locks in Texas.

They do however escort you out the door if you purchase a firearm from a sporting goods store.

I bet they will after this. And I think they did in AZ...you hear the officer refer to the lock in the video.

The problem with a trigger lock on the 30-30 is the design of the lever action would make it pretty useless. A little wiggling and the lock would pop right out.

Same policy here, a manager takes your new rifle outside the store, only then may you take possession of it.

Yeah, when you stop and think about it,it would be somewhat difficult to safe a 30-30.
I suppose you could zip tie the lever to the stock.

Maybe run one of those cable locks thru the lower lever loop and around the stock.

After looking around a bit I couldnt find one other than the one that goes through the trigger guard, and as you said they can be easily defeated.
I would think a short cable lock through the lever and around the stock would work.
It'd be nice if they purpose made one, since the diameter of the stock at that point is so consistent among all brands it wouldnt be difficult.
