D.C. police release video in toppling of Ten Commandments
D.C. police have released video of two men wanted in connection with the toppling of a Ten Commandments monument near the U.S. Supreme Court.
The men are seen on video walking in the area of the 100 block of Second Street in Northeast D.C., near the sit of the statue.
The suspects are described as white males, with one was wearing a blue shirt and light-colored pants, and the other was wearing red shirt and dark pants.FaithInAction
Police said the 850-pound stone monument was toppled sometime overnight between Sept. 20 and Sept. 21. The tablets are supported by a steel rod that connects to a concrete base. The vandals bent the steel rod so that the tablets were facing down and could not be read.
The stone monument sits across the street from the Supreme Court in front of the headquarters of Faith and Action, a Christian outreach ministry. The 3-feet-tall tablets are angled so that the Supreme Court justices can see the commandments as they enter or leave the high court, according to the ministry.
