If it doesn't have a select fire capability, it is not a modern military weapon.

Also, The Wild West Rifle, the Lever Action gun, like you saw on the show, "The Rifleman?" That was an actual military weapon. The 6 shot revolver, used by the American military and was first patented in 1836......it is a semi-automatic weapon?

The 5 shot, pump action shotgun.....is a current military weapon, in use by our current armed forces in current combat zones.

Every bullet tumbles under certain conditions. The 5.56 was not designed to tumble. If anything, it was designed to be less lethal, but that was not the main design concern.

The 7.62 round is twice the size and weight of the 5.56. Soldier/Marine fatigue was the highest concern.

The 5,56 is light weight. No other design-factor theories should be seriously considered.

Our troops complain, today, that at longer ranges it isn't as effective as other rounds against enemy perssonel.
