Dem Rep. Quigley on Taxes: ‘If You Love This Country, One of the Things You Do Is Pay Your Fair Share’

My "fair share" of your welfare check is zero. My fair share of Green Energy programs is zero

Saturday, during an appearance on MSNBC, Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) defended the so-called Inflation Reduction Act’s provision to bolster the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) with an additional 80,000 agents.
According to Quigley, paying taxes was part of it if one “loved” the country.
Unless your a democrat and evade them.....

I do. Hardly perfect but it is the best we have.
You live in a constitutional representative republic if you live in Virginia. The US uses a democratic process to elect representatives, but it is not a democracy.

Besides FIT, what is another tax your patriotic ass hates to pay?

I hate paying an income tax when all the welfare queens don't have to pay jackshit. Like over 50% of Americans.

I don't like paying the despicable corporate tax whenever I buy something made by a corporation.

It was oppressive to have to pay that goddamn Social Security tax when I could have got a much rate of return on my money than the pathetic pension the filthy government doles out.

I don't like paying that idiotic Medicare and Medicaid tax when I was working.

I don't like all those filthy ass hidden taxes like the one that The Worthless Negro put on medical devices.

The Federal Government should be a minimalist government with expenditure for defense, courts, border patrol, state department and things like that. Every American, regardless of income, should equally pay their prorated share.

There should not be any of these despicable Federal Agencies like the Department of Education or HUD or whatever.

There should absolutely be no welfare, grants, subsidies, bailouts or entitlements at the Federal level.

I don't mind paying for highway construction through a user fee like with fuel tax (providing the money is spent efficiently).

Of course you idiotic Socialists want the filthy government to be your Mother and Father because you are too sorry to pay your own way and you want somebody else to give you free stuff.

Indeed again. The very reason the constitutional convention was called was because pre-constitutional federalism wasn't working too well. The smarter among them understood that a central federal power was needed to lay and collect taxes. I'm certainly not arguing that Hamilton and Jefferson envisioned the IRS and bureaucracies like the Social Security Administration, but sorry, taxes are a thing.

I don't really equate paying taxes with love of country - no idea why anyone came up with that silly-ass idea, lol. To me it's more like membership dues. You wanna be a member? Pay up. It's wrong to enjoy living in an advanced country like ours and expect not to pay anything for its upkeep.

And yet tens of millions do every single year.

Always amazes me how when billionaires pay millions in taxes and half the country pays zero, lefties say that the billionaires aren't paying their fair share.
yeh, I used to always have to remind the uneducated leftists (redundancy) about this

Needless to say, they were rarely impressed w/ that argument... and argued it away (or thought they did). I don't remember their arguments...

which proves they were useless.

u know, now that i think of it.. they probably want to increase the min wage in all states for one reason:

so the damn govt can get even more taxes from the workers.. So much that they may have been better off b4 the supposedly-more-fair wage hike... (or if not, it will come to that some day)

I don't like paying that idiotic Medicare and Medicare tax when I was working.
And you use Medicare......Now...... Correct?
Of course you idiotic Socialists want the filthy government to be your Mother and Father because you are too sorry to pay your own way and you want somebody else to give you free stuff.
Why do you lump all (D) into that category?
I went out and earned my way, started working at 12.
I paid my own way through College by continuing to work.

Now, discuss your use of Medicare.

And yet tens of millions do every single year.

They do, and there's a legal process that tries to address that. It's not perfect. But I'm sorry, we can build a 30-foot wall and they'll still find ways to get here. Many "illegals" enter legally and overstay.

I don't disagree with you that undocumented migration is an issue that needs to be dealt with, but it's more complicated than just building a wall and chasing them all down. More and more migrants will cross the border because they're leaving failed states, and they're also trying to escape climate disaster.
