The nation of France during the republic had the clergy state an oath of loyalty to France and the civil constitution, instead of Rome...but even this was changed later on due to a popular support for the nonjury clergy...Since France had confiscated the church properties to pay debts, the nation of France financed the clergy and the church..

As far as the Roman calendar, based on mythology and pagan named months and days is not used by every nation in the world..In fact the US military used the Julian calendar when I was in the Army..

Christianity is not the end all of religions.... The Papacy is notorious for anti-christian behavior in trying to expand on their empire, now why would an entity like Christ want people to go to war to spread the Christian doctrine ?
