Democratic Socialist Agenda To Cost $42.5 Trillion In Next Decade, Says … Vox?

Q. What priorities should The Congress Support which fulfill the vision statement within the Preamble to our Constitution

How well has The Congress done, "to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity?

Not very good, except in one area.

Consider this:

The 15 countries with the highest military budgets in 2017

"Although the US' budget remained unchanged, it "spent more on its military than the next seven highest-spending countries combined," SIPRI reported."

well they definitely dont secure the blessings of liberty considering they have been forcing hard working people to go against their will and earn wages for others, for a couple generations now.
Sad.

That's not even remotely close to $42.5 trillion.

Make a huge dent in that by doing the smart thing on healthcare - Expand the current Medicare / Medicare Advantage / Medicare Supplement system to all instead of going to Single Payer.

Maintain dynamic free market competition and innovation while providing strong basic service for all and recipient buy-in.

The perfect combination, but just too sensible for wingers on both ends.

How can the govt maintain "free market" competition by getting involved and regulating everything? That doesnt make sense

I don't consider Taxes to be an assault on liberty. Of course few of us enjoy paying taxes, but Art. I, sec. 8 and clause 1 provides the power of government to lay and collect taxes, as does the 16th A. The budget decides how these dollars are spent, who benefits and who does not.

I consider an assault on liberty occurs when polling places are closed, days and hours to vote are shortened and strict forms of ID are required with zero guidance from The Congress.

That said, how well do you feel the current leadership in Congress has worked to create a more perfect union, and to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, and promote the general welfare?

Examples of McConnell and Ryan's efforts in these matters will be greatly appreciated.

Both types of plans allow private insurance companies to fill in the large gaps left by traditional Medicare. MA plans are like PPOs and HMOs. Medicare Supplements cover more for a higher price. The insurance companies then compete in benefits and price, and innovate with extra benefits.

Expanding it to all would open a MASSIVE marketplace for private competition.

Consider this:

7 Countries With the Highest Health Care Costs

1. United States
"As you probably expected, Americans are No. 1 -- unfortunately, in an area where we'd prefer to rank lower. The U.S. spends a staggering 17.9% of its GDP on health care. That's $8,680 per person -- 61% higher than the next-highest nation. However, Americans' life expectancy of 78.7 years places 27th among OECD members and is over a year less than the OECD average."

$616 billion - that is a lot, isn't it? do i need to do the math to show you what % of 42.5 trillion that would be? you could cover hint, around 1/60th or so? we could get rid of the military all together, sing kumbaya with iran, china, the russians, mexico and so forth and still not come close to being able to pay for this.

sooner or later the left will run out of "rich" people to tax and this is long after they keep lowering the bar time and time again cause they keep chasing rich people to other countries.

The $616 B is for a single year, the 42.5 trillion is a made up number. Why does The Congress feel the need to provide so much, and get so little? Did you read the link, we give more to the military than the seven other nation states combined (and that includes Russia and China).

Just one example:

F-35 Program Costs Jump to $406.5 Billion in Latest Estimate

i've read it many times. i've read it every time a liberal screams we spend too much on liberty while they run around telling people to shut up and censor them using the rights that overblown military gives them.

i giggle at the irony.

I hate to break it to ya but picture ID is not a "strict" form of ID. It is a sensible one. A person can't buy a gun without showing picture ID, or go into most schools, or to buy booze or cigarettes, apply for food stamps or open a bank account. Pretty much if you want to apply for ANY government program you have to provide picture ID. I find it amazing that to vote you feel that that should not be required as well.

i find it funny when you say we need an ID to vote and they cry out we're restricting rights in the constitution yet - what do you need to buy a gun? another right found in that very same document.

i giggle at the irony. :)

Maybe you can explain why this issue of the ID always comes up when an election is up coming, and the Congress hasn't ever passed legislation outlining what is and what is not an acceptable ID?

The claim of election day fraud has been around for more than a decade, I know the Congressional leadership has lots to do, months out of session and hours on the phone seeking campaign donations, but something so important as this ought to have at least a hearing or two.

Good question. The claim that requiring a picture ID is too hard for old people and black people to obtain is specious at best, and bigoted opinion. The only thing that not requiring picture ID does, is allow vote fraud. That is its only effect.
