While it would be inappropriate to blame any particular Democrat (Bernie Sanders?) or the Democratic Party for the Slaying at the Ballfield, one cannot allow this event to pass without at least noting the very basic thrust of partisan oppo-speech over the past decade or so.
When Republicans characterize the Democrats amongst themselves, the Democrats are said to be stupid, misguided, anti-Constitutional, dishonest, and so on.
The same is not true on the Democrat side. In their internal communications Republicans are always characterized as Evil. Republicans are said to be racists, homophobes, misogynists, bigots, xenophobes, people who simply don't care about other people -or in the case of environmental discussions, don't care about future generations.
Hence, while Republicans preach that their political opponents need to be rebutted, Democrats preach that their political opponents must be SILENCED. The recent examples, especially on college campuses, are too numerous to list. "Students" demand that Conservative speakers be uninvited, prohibited, or failing that, their speeches are interrupted with organized mayhem. And yet, Leftist radicals are welcomed on all campuses, and there are not even many counter-demonstrations by Conservatives, who actually understand what college campuses are supposed to be.
So it cannot be surprising when the occasional "Bernie Supporter" takes this Democrat message to heart, and physically or mortally attacks Republicans and/or Conservatives. It happens with regularity.
Republicans are EVIL, after all.
