The governor of Michigan is on the short list for VP.

Republicans used to be known for their willingness to crawl over broken glass to vote in such elections. And the Republican Party spent heavily. Boy howdy, did they spend.

The Democrat won by +11. It was a Democratic rout.

And that was even after the Republicans forced an election when most of the precincts in Milwaukee were closed.
