The one thing I agree with on the topic of a wall is that we are a technological juggernaut, and have the ability to seal off the border much more effectively than ever before...

And if you want to solve the money problem, then we may have to look at waging war on the cartels....

The drug war is the drug war. The biggest problem with the border is the people coming, just to get the benefit of the better employment opportunity, legal or underground in the private sector. If you want to cut that down, you could mine the entire length and put up a cattle fence with Keep out, minefield in place, a lot cheaper. I care not for human carnage of the people seeking illegal entry, but I'm just like that.
