Democrats, what would be a good trade-off for the $5B?

This is politics, after all. Give and take. Or at least that USED to be the rule, when we were sane.

What would be a good trade-off to write that check? Improved DACA status? Amnesty of some kind? Maybe another issue? Climate change funding?
.

Pointless conversation, we've been through this before - Republicans just generally don't know how to give even an inch.

A Guide to S.744: Understanding the 2013 Senate Immigration Bill

Nevermind $5 Billion, Democrats were signing on for 40 billion dollar, comrehensive wiz-bang border security and visa-overstay reform - NOPE, not good enough to give on even a strict and narrow path to citizenship!
Conversations are only pointless when hardcore partisan ideologues are involved.

Well thats who runs the Republican party nowadays.
Yeah, I know, it's all "their" fault. Thanks.

Sarcasm and lack of counter argument noted.

Yeah, right. Mexico is paying for the wall. That's why the government is shut down.

Is there anything Trump can say that Trumpkins won't believe?

improved trade deals with mexico have resulted in increased federal revenues by virtue of more profitable US companies. Mexico is already paying indirectly for the wall. Trump never said that mexico would cut us a check for the wall, it was always an indirect payment, and its already happened.

please stop lying about this.

Did you unhinge your jaw to swallow that? What a goof! I suspect you wouldn't know a lie if Trump spit it in your face.

NAFTA is gone, the USMCA is a much better deal for the US. The positive affects are already happening. the media wont tell you about it, but if you work for any company that exports its products, you know it.

If you want to talk about lies, how about these?

if you like your plan you can keep it
we landed under sniper fire
I never sent classified data on my private server
we talked about golf and grand kids (Lynch has no grand kids and doesn't play golf)
Benghazi was caused by a video

You're the guy who brought up lying. The USMCA is not in effect, and opening up Canadian markets to Wisconsin dairy products doesn't mean Mexico is paying for a wall.

The fact is Trump is demanding the US taxpayers pay for his vanity project. That's not an opinion. The gyrations you fellows put yourselves through to pretend Trump is credible indicates an unhealthy ego investment.

Hmmm, when did Pelosi and Schumer become republicans? Did I miss that?

BULLSHIT

Pelosi and Schumer have long advocated comprehensive immigration reform.

securing our borders is not a vanity project, that you would use those terms just shows how out of touch, or brain washed, you are.

Was it a vanity project when the dems and Obama voted for and funded it? Geez, dude, try to learn something before posting bullshit.

How about you read the bill before you open your mouth?

A Guide to S.744: Understanding the 2013 Senate Immigration Bill

What is S. 744?

The “Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act,” or S. 744, is a broad-based proposal for reforming the U.S. immigration system written by a bipartisan group of eight Senators known as the “Gang of Eight.” Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY), John McCain (R-AZ), Richard Durbin (D-IL), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Michael Bennet (D-CO), and Jeff Flake (R-AZ) drafted S. 744 in the spring of 2013

why cant you separate rhetoric from actions?

you keep ignoring the fact that those same dems voted for and funded a wall under Obama. Please address that or we are done here.

Rhetoric? In what fucking world does a Senate passed, bi-partisan bill is "rhetoric"???? It is EXACTLY OPPOSITE of empty rhetoric.

You are going to have to change that single track you've got for a reply at some point.

Thank you. They also refer to the 2006 Secure Fence Act as if it were the same proposal as Trump's SF Wall.

Trump tweeted on Monday, “I am in the Oval Office & just gave out a 115 mile long contract for another large section of the Wall in Texas.”

That's flat-out false.

Maybe if Trump offers to resign, Dems will give the $5 billion for a wall

maybe if Pelosi and schumer offer to resign and the Clintons are put on trial, Trump would agree to accept 4 billion for the wall and border security.

Why resign?

No wall as it is right now.

where is the money that the dems authorized for it when obozo was president? Whose bank account is it in? or did obozo send it to Iran?

and you know that how? The dems appropriated money for the wall under Obama, Maybe that's the money Trump is spending. Can you prove otherwise?

Schumer and the Senate did everything, it was specifically the Republican House where the bill died. Own it.

You're quite right. The Purchasing Agent-in-Chief may be running a clandestine operation for the building of a stealth wall that no one can see, in locations no one can identify, and by contractors who can't be named. All that competitive bidding, with specific requirements and announcement of terms, is a waste of time, even though required by law. Trump can do it all by himself. He may pour the concrete, too.

5 Billion is ridiculously smal amount of money. Obama's stimulus was 800 billion.

It's not that they care about the money, it's that they don't want the wall. The wall prevents America to turning into Mexico. Since the dems have nothing to offer to Americans, it's time to replace the people.

as all crappy legislation should die. too bad ACA got through on a dems only vote in the middle of the night before anyone had time to read it. In the words of senile Nancy "we have to pass it to find out what's in it" that has to be the all time most stupid comment ever made by a speaker.

the dems want a talking point for 2020 that Trump failed to deliver on the wall. That's all this has ever been about.
