The old man was there to get press coverage. He got it. DeSantis wouldn't have had a chance to respond to the old man had he been allowed to stay. He was trespassing and refusing to leave, at that point he was arrested. He was a peaceful protester and I admire that, he got his point across. Getting arrested as a peaceful protester happens and like in the late 60's and early 70's many went to jail for their beliefs. He is a man who earned respect.
