Disney scraps plans for new Florida campus, mass employee relocation amid DeSantis feud

Disney does not need to blink, they just need to outlast the current dictator governor of the state.
And do you really think that the State of Florida is going to reverse itself if-and-when Ron DeSantis steps-down as governor?

This is now a matter of a sovereign State versus a private corporation... and it seems highly unlikely that the State of Florida will concede dominance.

I think that the next Gov will not have a personal grudge with Disney and will not actively target them.

DeSantis himself said he is doing this because Disney dared to stand up to him.

In my opinion the best thing to come out of this is that DeSantis has gotten all of you to throw off the façade of being either small government folks or conservatives. That ship has now sailed and you all can come out of the closet and be your true selves.

Yeah, such high paying jobs--average wage for a character performer, food prep or service worker are all under $15/hr. Wasn't it you democrats that said $15/hr was less than a living wage? Sucks when your own shit bite you in the ass, eh?
Average wage for the jobs that would have been relocated is $120,000

Doesn't matter... Decent Folk understand that he is drawing a line against Woke-ist sexual deviants and perverts and keeping them away from little kids.

Doesn't matter... enjoy your pyrrhic victory as Decent Folk outside your circle laugh at you over the real-world practical outcomes of all of this.

Doesn't matter... whatever gets the job done against the transplanted Fruit Loops from the People's Democratic Republic of Kalipornia.

They were?
Indeed. Since the very early 20th century. By train. Then by car. Then by airliner. Miami. Tampa St.-Pete. Daytona Beach. And on and on and on.

And Disney's setting-up in Florida drew a lot of copycat entertainment and hospitality establishments that will continue to thrive long after Disney is gone.

Thanks.

It is so refreshing to see people like you come out and admit to being lovers of big government controlling the masses.

I do wonder though if you will be as happy about it when the other side starts doing it to you and your tribe.

And now its Disney's turn. 2,000 jobs by by.

KEY POINTS
  • Disney will no longer be moving forward with the construction of its Lake Nona, Florida, employee campus.
  • The company will also no longer be requiring California-based employees to relocate.
  • The announcement comes amid a bitter feud between the company and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis centered in part around the company's special district and development plans.

Disney has abandoned plans to open up a new employee campus in Lake Nona, Florida, amid rising tensions with the state's governor.
Citing "changing business conditions" and the return of CEO Bob Iger, Josh D'Amaro, chairman of Disney's parks, experiences and products division, penned a memo to employees Thursday, announcing that the company will not move forward with construction of the campus and will no longer be asking more than 2,000 California-based employees to relocate to Florida.

It is just the beginning of the results of desantis temper tantrum war. Let's see:

Construction and agricultural projects are shutting down because desantis is pushing migrants out of the state.

Disney is closing down a high end motel in September

Teachers are leaving the state because desantis is threatening them with legal action if they teach anything he does not approve

Colleges and Universities in the state are afraid they will be the next victim of the desantus morality squad
Disneyworld is sinking faster than a hog in a bog. Go Desantis! This hotel closing couldn't possibly have anything to do with charging $4800 could it?

They are the same now. Prior Disney had special privileges the other companies did not.

Nope, there are more than 100 companies/entities each the same privileges in the state of Florida.

Oh, and Disney still has most of those since DeSantis did not take them away since it would have cost the state way too much

People were flocking to Florida long before Disney came along.

People will still be flocking to Florida long after Disney is only a vague and distant memory.

Never mind that Florida has tremendous drawing power in the wintertime beyond the confines of the Disney Amusement Park properties.

Never mind that Disney will lose its shirt if it leaves Florida.

Never mind that if Disney DOES ever leave that others will rush in to fill the vacuum left behind the the financially-suicidal Woke-ists who pull the plug.

Never mind that Disney stockholders are almost certainly going to mutiny against management in order to return Disney to a profitable partnership role.

It's not a question of
IF Disney will blink first.

After a round or two of defiance and management face-saving...

It's merely a question of
WHEN Disney is going to blink. :auiqs.jpg:

Disney needs to give billions of dollars in resources to help build up infrastructure around it. They have turned down initiatives in many ways including a train from the airport to their place. Progs love trains and this was declined. Do this stuff while they can. before they become California.

I suggest you read up on the privilege Disney had vs the other special districts.

Disney’s closing its failed Star Wars hotel based on its absolute abortion of a non-canon trilogy of terrible characters, it’s releasing another absolute travesty of an Indiana Jones movie with terrible reviews that shits on the protagonist with wokescold modern bullshit, they made a terrible Willow LGBTQ+-/ sequel series that has already been removed from Disney plus, their Little Mermaid and Peter Pan and Pinocchio remakes have all been straight garbage, Marvel phase IV was an absolute failure and their next supposed big bad was a flop on screen and accused of sex crimes offscreen.

Disney is burning to the ground, and I am so here for it.

I would say that $4800 has way more to do with it than DeSantis.

The cost of a 2 day stay is $1200 per person, not $4800. Minimum stay is 2 days, so $600 per day.

(But that is still pretty expensive considering other hotels are going to cost $100-$200 per night ($200-$400) for two nights. But that doesn't include other things like meals, attractions, etc.)
