Disney scraps plans for new Florida campus, mass employee relocation amid DeSantis feud

Why don't you stop pretending it doesn't?

It does not. Disney was already the largest single tax payer in the state and their amount of taxes has not changed under anything DeSantis has done.

They paid over a billion dollars in taxes last year alone.

Cheaper for Disney just to buy the Legislature and Governor politicians buy (homonym pun intended) legally funding campaigns and PACs to influence elections.

WW
Pretty much the federal play book. The gop has been using it for decades.

Was Diz. really planning to ship 2,000 Mickey impersonators to Fla. and build a freaking hotel? It sounds bogus to me.

Pay attention, they weren't going to build a hotel but rather an office building and 200+ had already been transferred here.

The cost of the 1 Billion and 2,000 jobs gone has not been felt, yet.

Stay tuned.
If desantis were to be governor longer than the next 3 years (but he won't) and this disney vendetta kept up the state of Florida would have a state income tax. Right now Florida is living off (thanks to the Feds) Covid money from trump and biden.

California has a tax revenue that would choke a freaking horse and lefties call Florida a fascist state when they don't even have a state income tax. It shows what propaganda and hatred will do to the left wing mind.
We will one day if our state government keeps fucking with business.

Having to pay their "fair share" seems to have them upset. Odd.
Oddly the Villages and other entities have the same breaks that Disney has and DiSantis hasn’t attacked them

Only Mickey. I guess government CAN choose winners and losers according to right wingers after all

Do you actually think FL is the only state with mild winters?
Within the universe of the American southeast, pretty much, yeah...

Disney has a presence on both the West Coast (the original Disneyland in California) and the East Coast (the latter-day Disneyworld).

If they bail out of Florida they will need to move to another mild-winters State to the east of the Mississippi...

There are a number of Woke-ist Safe Spaces on the East Coast but not much below the Mason-Dixon Line, which is where the warmer winters are...

There's one helluva lot of Red on the map in that neck of the woods, isn't there?

The only Purple Zone in that neighborhood is Georgia, and that one flops back-and-forth like a yo-yo...

And it's a helluva lot further north than Orlando...

Disney's options for relocation appear to be extremely limited...

IMHO...

The decision was made specifically due to the financial situation in Florida caused by DeSantis. There profit losses are due their streaming services (which other companies are having a problem with as well), not because they are "woke".
Well being “woke” still hurt Disney.

Disney lost almost 50 billion dollars in stock value In the fight with DeSantis. No matter how you try to cut it, that hurt.

Disney LOSES nearly $50 billion in stock value since waging war against Florida’s anti-grooming law

The Walt Disney Company has lost nearly $50 billion dollars in stock market value since the start of March, when executives shifted gears and became more actively involved in politically-charged ideological culture warfare against Gov. Ron DeSantis and Florida leadership.

According to the Washington Examiner, the downfall of Disney has been $46.6 billion USD since March 1, which the outlet marks as shortly before the start of their ongoing conflict against the state of Florida.

The latest battle has Disney losing their special self-governing status. Tens of billions of dollars were wiped out of Disney's stock value since Tuesday, alone. Coincidentally, that was the same day DeSantis announced that eliminating Disney's "legacy special district" status was on the session agenda.

It should be pointed out that Disney has lost a lot of money in this fight with DeSantis and that many be the main reason for their withdrawing funds for a new employee campus.

DeSantis sprinkled some mouse poison on Disney World and Mickey is feeling a little ill. It might be wise for Disney to stop being “woke” and just go back to nice clean entertainment for kids and parents. We don’t need or want a transitioning Mickey Mouse to celebrate.

Disney is losing money because of a combination of streaming losing a ton of popularity due to lockdowns ending, failure to plan correctly for that transition and they have lost the ability to make good movies as evidenced by audiences largely rejecting their new offerings.

None of that has squat to do with the park or DeSantis.

That is little more than an assertion.

No one seems to be able to point out how DeSantis is connected with streaming losses.

Why don't you stop pretending it doesn't?
Likely because you have not provided anything that shows this was the motivation. The threads here reflect what the reasoning is and DeSantis has not been shy about stating exactly what he was intending. At no point was DeSantis complaining about what Disney paid, he complained that they opposed his legislation. And then he used the government to punish them for it. It is not like he has been ambiguous. Nor is it difficult to understand why this is authoritarian, wrong and unconstitutional.

And now its Disney's turn. 2,000 jobs by by.

Disney has abandoned plans to open up a new employee campus in Lake Nona, Florida, amid rising tensions with the state's governor.
Citing "changing business conditions" and the return of CEO Bob Iger, Josh D'Amaro, chairman of Disney's parks, experiences and products division, penned a memo to employees Thursday, announcing that the company will not move forward with construction of the campus and will no longer be asking more than 2,000 California-based employees to relocate to Florida.
Florida has been the most successful State in the country because of DeSantis. And this is a great example of why

The drop in Disney stock prices hurt more.

And that is exactly why I wouldn't send my children to public schools in CA, moron. What my child is taught IS my business, moron. The reason this country is in the shape it is in is because of democrats trying to groom youngsters to be mentally challenged degenerates.
You're an idiot. Keep posting & reaffirming it.
