Does Trump Think That Stock Market Gains Reduce Our Debt?

It appears that he does.

Trump Ties Stock Market Gains To Debt Reduction in Fox News Interview

Did you guys elect a dude who knows nothing about anything?

It appears that you did.

I didn't read the link, but I'm going by what I heard initially.

I didn't quite understand his comment either about the market and government debt. My guess is he was referring to the capital gains tax being a benefit to the U.S treasury without mentioning it, and maybe even reminding himself that he is lowering or even doing away with that tax. Or, he confused himself while trying to address multiple issues and mixed them.

Might have even had been one of those "oh wait, this might give ammo to the democrats and those who don't want a tax cut." I don't think he specifically believes one is directly related to the other, but in an indirect way, yes one can suggest they are both related issues.

Yet another thing to add to the long list of things Trump thinks are so that, quite simply are not.

/----/ Sometimes the president needs to talk to the adults. Unfortunately, his comments went way over your head.
All he means is that the gains in the market could match the debt - not that it wipes out the debt. It's a comparison. Sorry he confused you.
"The country, we took it over at $20 trillion," Trump began, "As you know the last eight years they borrowed more than it did in the whole history of our country, so they borrowed more than $10 trillion. And yet we've picked up $5.2 trillion just in the stock market possibly picked up the whole thing in terms of the first nine months, in terms of value, so you could say in one sense we're really increasing values and maybe in a sense we're reducing debt."

Did you know that when people sell their stocks when the market is UP, those profits are taxed, thus lowering the deficit? but then those establishment liberals then make other programs to spend those savings on , thus creating more of a deficit... Maybe instead of increasing taxes, we actually start cutting back spending....

War on poverty cost
The War on Poverty has cost $22 trillion -- three times more than what the government has spent on all wars in American history. Federal and state governments spend $1 trillion in taxpayer dollars on America's 80 means-tested welfare programs annually.

Ohhhh! I don’t understand what he was saying! He’s got too high of an IQ!

Now I get it!

The question was phrased with the purpose of being a loaded question.
The proper question would be....,

Does a pay INCREASE reduce your debt faster? If you are Conservative with your money yes!
If you are liberal with your money no.

If there are capital gains in the market by investors, the government taxes those financial gains when they are realized. (When the security is sold, for our Progs friends)

It increases tax revenue for the Federal government when people are making gains in the market.

What the fuck is so difficult to understand about that?

If you sell stock at a loss....the fed gets no tax revenue.

If you earn $1 million in capital gains, the fed gets $150,000 when you sell the stock, because capital gains are taxes at 15%.

More money to the fed can reduce the annual deficit and help reduce the debt.

This is about 6th grade level math.

Progs need some fucking STEM classes. Stop finger painting and use your fingers to count.

Yes we(GOP in majority control) should, yet it will not happen as the budget request from the office of the president wants a larger budget and nothing for the debt and an unlimited ability to raise the debt ceiling without question...

Then during the era of Obama almost every year was an increase in the stock market which you supported just like the same during Trump..

Every day there are several strange and rather twisted threads starting "Does Trump...." and then twenty pages of liberals making the decision for him.

If you have nothing to say don't say it.

Then why did you post if you had nothing of value to post?

Trump needs all the help he can get. He's an idiot doing a job way above his pay grade.
