are you kidding? Who told you that....? The prosecution represents the people harmed, victims who also have the right for justice to be served.
justice delayed, is justice denied.
Also, under law, Judges are required to pursue a speedy trial, and not let justice be delayed, while still ensuring adequate time to prepare
The prosecution doesn't need to 'ask' for a speedy trial. Its a constitutional requirement unless there is a good reason not to.
