Donald wants to people to spend food stamps on junk food

I personally think that money should be used for actual healthy foods used to keep a person alive and healthy, not giving in to lobbyists pushing cheese whiz

Your nanny state is under threat from Big Cheese?

chuck-225x300.jpg

Nope. It's up to you if you want to expand SNAP from using socialism to provide necessary foods to the poor to convenience foods at a higher price.

Just saying I'm not for that. If you are that is your choice.

I'm not for giving anyone a dime for food ... healthy or not. But, if you're going to piss away taxpayer money on free food ... you might as well let people eat what they want. Don't humiliate the poor by making them eat a Michelle School Lunch.

Speaking of this topic is food stamps the same everywhere, just a few hundred a month?

If it is I wonder if poor people realize they are getting screwed over with local states minimum wage hikes? Speaking from experience food at the grocery store is way more expensive in high minimum wage states.

.

Whatever. Lording it over people who need help is kinda shitty. If we're going to give them financial support, we should allow them their dignity, deciding how best to spend it themselves.

If you pay attention, I am not critiquing those who receive food stamps. I am objecting to convenience stores who don't even offfer real nutritious food items being allowed to accept food stamp payments.

Have you ever been to the hood? Tell us when you seen a major grocery store any where near them?

Yes Lived in Miami. They were all over. What hood are you saying has no grocery stores?

Chicago, and it's simple and to prove if I go to Google maps Miami, I say your lying ...

.

lol, they have an Albertsons on Crenshaw and MLK Jr drive in Cali, but you can't find a grocery store haha

Hmm Chicago. Lets see.. Riverdale is usually listed as the worst area there. Hmm, Aldi, star groceries, Village groceries, Herman Foods, new store mart, Fairway foods all within a 10 block walk. And yes Walmart free delivery as well.

Well that one failed on ya. Try again?

10 blocks?

Because I am going to check...

So you made the statement without facts, just hoping it was true? ok

Lots would say overtown is about the worst.

Google Maps

Hmmm, looks to be about a dozen within a half mile. Plus, yes Walmart free delivery for grocery items as well.

Liberty City as well. Again, multiple choices within a half mile.

Where is Riverdale, what streets? North, south or west from Downtown Miami?

10 blocks?

Yeah it's about 15 or so blocks north and south... 5-10 east to west. And google shows 11 grocery stores in that area with public transportation to access them if walking is too much. Plus of course free delivery by walmart.

Riverdale is commonly known as the worst area in Chicago. Remember when you said you knew Chicago was the example? Yeah, it's not in or around Miami. That's why I said it was considered the worst area in Chicago. But, lots of public transportation, grocery stores and... Walmart delivers.

Wait... so you say you aren't for it. But you are for spending on more expensive foods that have less nutritional value?

That's like saying I don't think taxpayers should spend money on transportation, but since we do, we should buy everyone new Ferraris.

You really believe what you are saying. Expanding SNAP to junk food as staples is what you want?

Canned spray cheese would be considered a "staple" food, according to new policies proposed by the Trump administration. Lowering the the standards for what constitutes a "staple" food will only serve to open the door to businesses to begin accepting food stamps payments despite offering little to no nutritious food items. Which means that it will be easier for food stamps recipients to waste their allowances on junk food.

Once again, Donald betrays the values of Republicans and conservatives.

Trump proposal would allow spray cheese to count as a staple for food stamps

Why is the federal government involved in food stamps? If Trump were a conservative, would he not be advocating abolishing federal welfare programs and turning them over to the states?

Ok, so if you lived there, even though you are getting more into the medical area than housing with Jackson Memorial, you are less than a mile from Winn Dixie, Overtown Food market, and Moore Grocery according to google maps. Meaning the furthest you could be from one is less than half a mile.

Thanks for proving my point.

Sorry, forgot Alex Food market, The Miami produce center, Top Value Supermarket, and Harba foods are also within a mile of the supermarket you chose.

So that's 8 grocery stores within a 1 mile radius of your location.

Expanding SNAP to junk food as staples is what you want?

I don't think anyone should be told what to eat, what to drink, what to smoke, what to read, what to watch, whom to schtupp, or how to dress by government pencil pushers.

Anyone getting anything for free should never complain. I say, if you don't like it, grow your own food.

With out facts? It's you who lives in a bubble and doesn't know what the real world is like

Supermarket chains avoid low-income neighborhoods, even though they promised not to

EATONVILLE, Fla. — As part of Michelle Obama's healthy eating initiative, a group of major food retailers promised in 2011 to open or expand 1,500 grocery or convenience stores in and around neighborhoods with no supermarkets by 2016.
By their own count, they're far short.

Moreover, an analysis of federal food stamp data by The Associated Press reveals that the nation's largest chains — not just the handful involved in the first lady's group — have since built new supermarkets in only a fraction of the neighborhoods where they're needed most.

So your response when asked for facts was to give a location with 8 supermakets within a one mile radius.

And yes, some chains avoid low income neighborhoods. But saying their selection is down to just 8 supermarket choices instead of 10 isn't proving your point.

Again, which ghetto's are you talking about which don't have supermarkets nearby?

You claim to not be lying here. It's simple. Which ones were you referring to?

I don't think anyone should be told what to eat, what to drink, what to smoke, what to read, what to watch, whom to schtupp, or how to dress by government pencil pushers.

I fully agree. Which is why I am glad we haven't made it illegal for the poor to spend their money on junk food. You are talking two completely different things there.

But your argument is like saying "since I believe we shouldn't tell people what kind of homes they should live in, I think that we should expand tax money to buy the homeless mansions to live in". Saying someone should be allowed to purchase a mansion with their money vs. saying we need to expand gov't socialist programs paid for by taxpayers to buy the homeless mansions, are two completely different things.

Just like saying the government shouldn't tell the poor they can't spend their money on junk food shouldn't be legal. Expanding socialist programs paid for by the taxpayers so they can spend government assistance meant for providing dietary staples to include junk food as well I don't think is a good step.

It's simple I asked a simple question where was the hood at in Miami where you claimed their was a ton of grocery stores/bussiness because real world experience's goes against your silly logic..

I have been to hoods hundreds of times to buy cocaine in my youth, where it's just small high priced stuff where even hardware stores have turn tables to get the products behind bullet proof glass.

My new girlfriend told me when she used to work at a 7/11 they couldn't sell hot food for EBT, but if someone bought a frozen pizza she would heat it up for them..

I never got why they couldn't buy hot food say chicken at the grocery store or at McDonald's or some place

I see no reason for food stamp to be spent on McDonalds.
/——-/ They can’t. McDonalds would be prepared food and is not allowed. What Can SNAP Buy? | USDA-FNS

No shit Sherlock but why can't they?

What is the reason?
.

Because prepared food and convenience stores are places you spend high dollars for CONVENIENCE. Sure, it's nice you can get cheeze whiz and soda at 3AM there. It's nice you can get a big Mac made for you at McDonalds. But you are paying a premium for those services. Is that something we should be expanding socialist programs to cover?

Uhm because homeless people don't have a car? Not all cities are like Chicago that have public transportation 24 hours a day.
/——/ I tried telling that moron you can’t use food stamps at restaurants. Even at 7-11 you can not buy prepared food. Don’t be fooled. It’s all TDS.
