Donald wants to people to spend food stamps on junk food

If you've ever seen the grocery carts of EBT moochers, you'd already know that junk food is the general order of the day to begin with.

so, you look down on the poor, and you are void of empathy

typical Trumper
WTF are you blabbering about now?

you refer to the poor as "moochers"

you look down on the poor, and you are void of empathy

typical Trumper
It's what they are....I'm sorry reality is too much for a tender little snowflake like you to bear.

Why do liberals hate Trump even when he makes it easier for poor people to use their EBT card to buy food?

Craziness.
FOOD STAMPS SHOULD NOT BE FOR
CANNED CHEESE SODA AND SNACKS

I WORK 2 JOBS AND DONT BUY CANNED CHEESE
BECAUSE ITS TOO EXPENSIVE

FOOD STAMPS SHOULDNT BE FOR CANDY
CHIPS COOKIES SODA, WTF

What business is it of yours what they buy or don't? What authority are you that can decide what people can or cannot buy or should or should not buy?

Why the hell would you want to buy canned cheese? Is it really cheese?

Canned spray cheese would be considered a "staple" food, according to new policies proposed by the Trump administration. Lowering the the standards for what constitutes a "staple" food will only serve to open the door to businesses to begin accepting food stamps payments despite offering little to no nutritious food items. Which means that it will be easier for food stamps recipients to waste their allowances on junk food.

Once again, Donald betrays the values of Republicans and conservatives.

Trump proposal would allow spray cheese to count as a staple for food stamps

I’m, so nothing has changed then? You can buy candy bars and cokes with food stamps, aerosol cheese always has been an item you can buy with food stamps. This ain’t nothing new.

/——/ I tried telling that moron you can’t use food stamps at restaurants. Even at 7-11 you can not buy prepared food. Don’t be fooled. It’s all TDS.

Used to be you couldn't go spend your food stamps on junk food at the gas station too. Now Trump is expanding that. Just a matter of time it seems.
/——-. So you hate Trump for what he might do but never has. How liberal of you.

No I am just against the expansion of socialist programs like food stamps from food staples to junk food.

Once again tell us when they couldn't buy junk food with food stamps?

.

Your the one telling us Miami has all these huge 24hour grocery stores in the hood, so your post don't make sense..they could always buy junk food with food stamps

I'm not saying they have 24 hour ones. heck the nearest 24 hour one from me is 20 miles away.

You picked a location. And from that location they have 8 grocery stores in a 1 mile radius as well as free delivery.

Sure, some like the swamp. They like that lobbyists for convenience stores can get cheese whiz as a staple food and expand socialist programs. I don't.

And unlike you, I'm not going to make that excuse that they don't have another option, then admit I hadn't looked into it but was just making it up, then fail at trying to prove an option (by finding 8 grocery stores within a mile of your location, a high level of public transportation, and free food delivery), then pout when facts said otherwise and change the goalposts.

Some are, some aren't. I believe it has to be 51% cheese to use "cheese" in the name. "Cheez whiz" for example isn't a fun way to spell cheese, it's a legal workaround for a product that doesn't meet that requirement.

I don't care what people buy with their money. I say stay out of that. But I don't think SNAP, who's goal is "NUTRITION ASSISTANCE", should be expanded to increase their ability to provide junk food because lobbyists want to help get convenience stores on the list, so now we have to teach our kids cheez whiz is a staple of nutrition.

It will say if it is cheese food or a cheese food product that is how you can tell the diff...Also canned cheese has no nutritional value and is hard to digest...

lobbyists for convenience stores and lobbyists for soft drinks and snack foods, like Frito-Lay might have something to do with it, ya think?
Of course it does. Food in this country is owned by big business. Foods with no nutritional value may not be the best way to spend your monthly food allowance, but since if you are out working or travelling and you need something to eat and you're broke but you've got your SNAP card, you can't buy a pizza or a hamburger, so you buy what you can--crackers, chips and cookies. Make sense?

If they want to buy the crap, I have no issue with people buying it, I out grew that many years ago.

Why do you hate poor people? Shouldn't they be able to make hot Cheetohs at home instead of paying exorbitant fees at 7-11?

Ok, that's fine if that is your opinion. My thought is more that if I am going to supplement someone for a nutritional program, that money should go to nutritional foods, not junk food because lobbyists want that instead.

Edit:

NVM you said if THEY want to buy it, not if SNAP wants to pay for it. I agree with you 100%

Not really. I guess to me the Supplemental NUTRITION Assistance Program providing money for food with "No NUTRITIONAL value" in your words doesn't make a lot of sense to me. But if you think it makes sense to further expand that, feel free...

I agree it shouldn't be spent on restaurants where a majority of that money is being spent because you have the disposable income to pay someone else to prepare and serve your food.

If you want to use SNAP to help pay for your food bills, use that on food with nutritional value at the grocery store. If you want to spend money on snacks and junk food at the gas station, spend your own.

But that's my thought. I guess I'm kind of old school where I don't like expanding socialist government programs based on what soda and junk food lobbyists want.

But seems like that desire to expand socialism is growing huh?

NOT AT ALL. I think the poor should be able to choose to eat whatever they want with their money. But I think if the government is providing a nutrional supplement that should be nutritional.

I agree leave them their dignity. But that doesn't mean we have to use gov't funds to pay for their alcohol and snacks. Doesn't mean we need to build them an 8000 sqft beach house.

I get that socialism and expanding it is popular with a lot of posters here. I am just disagreeing in this regard.

You say you are old school. This program used to supplement food by providing basic food staples. Dairy, eggs, grains, vegetables and fruits. That was it. Not blowing it on cheez whiz and junk food and getting handicapped from diabetes and adding to the taxpayer burden for you.

Why is the federal government involved in food stamps? If Trump were a conservative, would he not be advocating abolishing federal welfare programs and turning them over to the states?
Why do people think that "turning it over to the states" is going to be some great solution to everyone's problems? You will pay for it either way. There are enough poor people and elderly people on SNAP that every state will feed its poor.

The reasons are numerous:

Welfare should be left to the states. It's called states rights

If money don't pass through federal hands, more of it goes to the poor instead of overpaid government bureaucrats, office space, office supplies, utilities, insurance, etc.

It is easier for the voters to have a say the more local the legislation. You can call your state legislators most any time; federal legislators are a bit more difficult to interact with.

I could go on and on, but you get the gist of it.

Using government funds to pay for something doesn't entitle anyone to say, "If I'm paying for xxx, then blah, blah, blah....". Government has no business telling people what to eat. If you want to attach such conditions to personal charity, go for it. But if the government is involved, the funds shouldn't be used as a means of controlling people.

I get that socialism and expanding it is popular with a lot of posters here. I am just disagreeing in this regard.

Admittedly, it's a hunch, but I don't believe you. I think you like socialism and are eager to use it to control people.
