Everything we know about the meeting — from whom it involved to how it was set up to how it unfolded — is in line with what intelligence analysts would expect an overture in a Russian influence operation to look like. It bears all the hallmarks of a professionally planned, carefully orchestrated intelligence soft pitch designed to gauge receptivity, while leaving room for plausible deniability in case the approach is rejected. And the Trump campaign’s willingness to take the meeting — and, more important, its failure to report the episode to U.S. authorities — may have been exactly the green light Russia was looking for to launch a more aggressive phase of intervention in the U.S. election campaign. [...]

From the Russian perspective, the fact that Trump Jr. agreed to the meeting would have been the first promising sign. That veteran political operative Paul Manafort and senior adviser Jared Kushner showed up with him would have furthered the impression that there was strong interest in Russian assistance (and vulnerability to compromise) on the part of the campaign. But, according to standard espionage tradecraft, the most notable achievement of this encounter lay in the campaign’s failure to report it to the appropriate U.S. authorities — as Russia would have known when there was no immediate, dramatic increase in U.S. counterintelligence scrutiny of its election-related operations.

As for why the initial emails so bluntly stated that the contact was part of a Russian government initiative—putting the most incendiary aspect of the meeting in plain text, from the beginning, he suspects it was “to avoid the possibility that [the] offer might be misconstrued, perhaps naively, as an innocent gesture of support and nothing more.” By making it explicit, the Putin government could be assured Trump would have “a full appreciation” for their role in an upcoming victory.

Ah man..., President Trump was colluding with Russian's agents.

He could be removed tomorrow and I still wouldn't regret my vote.

Glad you're willing to remain just as stupid as you were in Nov.

The SC nominee simply replace the arch conservative fuck head, Scalia, with a more moderate conservative....How you morons interpret that as a "great win," defies logic....but then when did conservatives and logic ever coincide?

There will be more over the next couple of years and a republican will be there to fill them. They will mean more to the country than any single president. Add to that a couple of hundred other judicial appoints that will be made over his term make my vote worthwhile. Add to that pulling out of Paris, the TPP, reduction in regulations, drastic reduction in border crossings and enforcement of immigration laws. Oh yeah let's not forget all the regressive butt hurt. All in all, a pretty good 6 months. LMAO

It's fun pointing out your an idiot nat...

I'll take every opportunity you give me.

By all means, take all the opportunities you want....but for fuck sake, learn the difference between "your" and "you're"otherwise other folks may think that YOU'RE the idiot........LOL ....

Uh yeah, you lost it kid

The difference is that I KNOW I lost our current government to a bunch of morons.......BUT, you haven't yet realized it and perhaps....in your stupidity....never will.....LOL

(Don't forget that Trump openly stated, ".....I LOVE the poorly educated and they love me....")

Now that's really funny. Everyone including Trump was surprised he won. This is nothing more than just speculation wrapped in a nice blanket of innuendo.

Well, no......Russia was surprised tat the orange moron actually won the nomination.....After that, Russia went into action to make sure the stooge made it into the WH.........They must have been toasting with the best vodka in the Kremlin last Nov.

The Trump Jr meeting was in June, Trump won the nomination in July.

Kinda got things backward, doncha?
Trump won the primaries before the meeting.
The convention was in July.

Is that the best you can do? The Grammar Police?

Well, obviously, you must have "won" the argument....After all, look at the size of your FONTS you used on your post.....

(what an :ahole-1: LOL )

The only "hallmarks" are illustrated in a crazy angry and incoherent left that wants to turn a non issue into a federal case. What's gonna happen when the independent investigation uncovers evidence that the Obama/Clinton partnership paved the way for Bill's "international Clinton Foundation outreach" to get rich? Are we going to have to open federal PTSD compensation for blathering left wing idiots who still can't accept the results of last November's election?

Like clockwork, another right wing moron CANNOT defend the orange piece of lard.....so, as instructed, brings up Clinton and Obama......

What a bunch of assholes......bless their hearts.....LOL
