If you read the link it was actually Billions of votes cast throughout the US between 2000 and 2012. Of the billions of votes cast throughout the US during that 12 year period only 491 instances of voter fraud were found.

Its really fascinating how, after all of these states ramped up the voter ID restrictions, the GOP is hanging it's hat on trying to instill fear about voter fraud.

I have a feeling I'll be making the fine distinction a lot in the next 170 days or so until we vote but here it goes anyway.

There is zero evidence that fraud has played a role in reversing the will of the people in any major election. That does not, however, remove the fact that we can, and WE SHOULD, make the voting process as sterile as possible. One way to do that is to make citizens present a valid photo ID at the time a ballot is cast in person. Voting by mail is incredibly secure and it's been used by the military for about 100 years when troops overseas have voted by mail-in-ballot. Its disingenuous of republicans to suddenly cry foul over this tried and true process.

That instances can be itemized should probably tell you that it is pretty rare. Wow, 2 in 2013, 1 in 2014, 3 in 2015 and 2 in 2017 out of what; 10 million ballots cast?

Just remember, the number of people who will vote by mail is far, far lower than the total number of voters who vote at polls. Even during a pandemic, I'm sure the majority of U.S. citizens is too stupid to proactively register to vote absentee.
